I don't know if I've ever been this excited about a 3rd round pick.

Come on TTF, don't tell me you weren't as ecstatic as all of us about Bruce Davis.

Anyways, I really like Labriola's response to a question about why we took Hargrave over Billings:

"If a secondary actually does get better if the front-seven pressures the quarterback, understand that Billings had 8.5 sacks during his three seasons in college, while Hargrave had 37 sacks in his four seasons. Note: Just because you saw a guy on TV once or twice doesn’t make him the better player."

and asked if Colbert had explained why they left Billings:
"I don’t need an explanation from Colbert because I know the reason the Steelers went with Hargrave instead of Billings: because they think Hargrave is a better player for them. It’s that simple."

The kid's nickname is Grave Digger - awesome but I hope Goodell doesn't find that out or he might fine him for it.

Hargrave will get the most snaps of all the rookies in '16.

let me nit-pik a little on hargraves because he does have short arms for a lineman, can he over come that disability will remain to be seen...........

    Pro Football Focus:
    Biggest concern:
    • Undersized with short arms. Doesn’t profile well to a two-gap team and still remains to be seen whether he can hold up to double teams
    • An all-or-nothing player when one gapping. Will get completely washed out of a play if the offensive lineman can deal with his quickness
    • Kept going to same pass rushing move at the Senior Bowl and Shrine game (outside swim). Lateral agility is iffy
    • Competition level. FCS to NFL is huge jump

How about a friendly wager? I think davis will. I don't care as long as this class contributes

It will go in this order

    1. Hargrave
    2. Davis
    3. Burns

.... the rest will either be bench warmers, cut from the team or practice squad.

Why would you think that? Harder position to learn and he hasn't played in in a year. No way he sees more snaps then Hargrave.

Maybe if Big Dan steps up in a major way but otherwise, just don't see it.

Wouldnt it be sweet if it was Matakevich who ended up with the most?

I wouldn't see it as being sweet because it probably would mean that Timmons or Shazier missed most of the season.

I say that because of what is in front of him. I think the old way is gone. I think butler will want the best player out there and let him learn on the job. Jmo

Todd McShay of ESPN FWIW had Hargrave as his steal/value of the third round, I hope he's right.

Has nothing to do with the old way, has to do with knowing your assignments. Like I said in another thread, blown assignments will lead to quick TD's, think back to the NE game last year, ugly, and those were guys with more experience then Davis, still didn't know what they were doing.

Yeah I've been thinking that this is definitely the pick I'm the most intrigued by. This draft was really just meh for me.

I will just say, yes that game was bad but again. my point is, look who we had back there. in my opinion davis will learn the system because he is extremely intelligent and he is far and away a better athlete than anyone we had at that spot last year.

come September I will be the first to say that you were right, but that will be sept. right now your wrong. :lolol:

You're like me on draft night, because they took guys no one was talking about. If you brush up on them, they are good picks, I've come around on them.

I'm tending towards this being a good thing.

In previous years, I've been mega-excited about the draft, and all the weapons we've got, and how we're unstoppable... usually up until the first day of minicamp when someone gets injured, and then someone gets DUI'd, and then someone forgets how to play completely...

I'm going for the reverse psychology this time. Be less excited, and watch the team quietly set about doing something amazing.

I am, though, probably more intrigued to see what these guys are like in camp than I have been with previous years.

Yeah maybe every year we should just go in expecting 0-16 and then when we win a game we can say "Well at least they did better than I was expecting". LOL!

Hey now let's not be making fun of lowered expectations. Lowered expectations is what makes it possible for me to make it through the day with out killing all the stupid around me.
