I am sure this will be kicked around for a couple weeks,
But are The Steelers aggressive enough at draft time? Even subtle moves to target a player?
Justin Simmons comes to mind. He should have been our second pick and could/should have.
    Just throwing things out there.

The word aggressive doesn't come to mind when thinking of our organizational philosophy whether it is the draft or free agency.

    I don't understand your premise?

Could we have done more? How does that relate to Justin Simmons going 40 picks after we took Sean Davis???

The Steelers clearly preferred Davis over Simmons, You, Me, Us..... we may disagree. All that means is we'll have to wait and see who was right. I don't see how this relateds to the Steelers being aggressive enough.

For me... they reached this year. So what... that **** is meaningless right now. We'll know more in a few years about whether they succeeded in reaching, or whether they weren't really reaches at all.... or they ****ed up.

At least hearing Mitchell talk about Hargraves as a 3 tech takes the sting away.

Never thought I'd see the day where we took a man/press corner in the 1st and a 3tech DT in the 3rd. The Dick Lebeau era, scheme, philosophy is in it's dying throws... slit it's throat.

There was no ammo, to be aggresive, being minus two extra picks this draft a 5th and a 7th. I don't think they were willing for mortgage future drafts. They are waiting and hoping. It is what it is.

I have no problem with the Steelers not trading up, I'm not for trading future picks, unless it's a truly special player ex: Polamalu.

Why Simmons in particular? We obviously liked Davis better. They play the same position and we took Davis.

Maybe we could've moved up if we really wanted Jackson, but it would've been hard to trade up with the teams who took WR and convince them to trade behind the Bengals who were in need of a WR as well. We may not have even tried, but it wouldn't have been easy anyways. We are plenty aggressive in the draft IMO. We either trade up to get the guy we love (Holmes, Troy) or stand pat and take the best guy on our draft board when it's our turn to pick. Seems like a sound draft strategy to me
