I guarantee that Jarvis Jones thread will devolve into the old Arians/Haley debate.

I am in favor of keeping Haley for another year for the same reason that Arians should have been kept... familiarity.

The Steelers have a chance to win the Superbowl (even though it's probably a win 4 games in a row chance). No need to go changing the offense when Ben, Bell and Brown have one that suits their strengths.

Admittedly the Steelers 17 ppg in the playoffs under Haley is incredibly disappointing.

I strongly feel the Steelers under Arians were carried by the defense. In the 2008 run the offense only managed 21 ppg if you take away the 3 TDs scored by the D and special teams.

To me the common denominator in both offenses is Ben. He is a great QB but he is streaky and he has been outplayed in each of his Superbowl appearances. I'd like to see him get an MVP when he is playing at this extremely high level.

At least the last couple of years, we have limped into the playoffs and that certainly had some affect on the low scoring.
At least the last couple of years, we have limped into the playoffs and that certainly had some affect on the low scoring. Arian's offense seemed to do well between the 20's but poorly in the red zone. Mostly, as stated above, Ben is streaky. A good Ben makes a good offensive coordinator, and vice versa.

Yeah being without Bell the last 2 postseasons has really hurt.

Not to mention Pouncey and AB and Ben were all hurt this past postseason.

Didn't we do the Haley vs. Arians debate a few years ago?
Somebody's a little late to the party.

I think the answer was that, in the end, everything is Tomlin's fault, unless it's a success?

Tomlin doesn't seem to mind the "Ben throws until his arm falls off" philosophy.

What's the debate? Who is better? Should we fire Haley? There isn't a simple answer. I think that is pretty clear we are one of the most talented offensive rosters in football (probably most talented). We have the best WR in football, the best all around RB in football, a good offensive line, oh and a future HOF QB still in his prime. Maybe the talent level has a lot to do with why Haley's unit is more productive than Arians'. It could just as easily be that Ben has gotten better under Haley's scheme and the offense evolved into what it is because of it. I think the truth is probably a combination of both.

We keep Haley for as long as the offense continues to perform. There's no reason to fix what isn't broken. Losing Marty and Heath hurts, but with the addition of Green there's no reason to think we can't be the top offensive unit in the league next season.

Nothing. Look at all the playoff wins Ben is racking up.

Is that because of Ben throwing a lot, or for other reasons like injury/poor pass defense? I think it would be hard to convince anyone that the two are correlated.

Tom Brady has 38 or more attempts per game in 4 of the previous 5 seasons and he is 4 years older. Hasn't affected him any? Ben has only two season like that and they are the 2014 and 2015 seasons. We were tied for 15th in passes per game as a team in 2015 with 36.8. Bens 39.1 per game would've been 6th had he kept his pace up for the entire season without injury. We had the best WR in the game, an elite deep threat, an elite pass catching RB and a backup who filled in really well in that area... What were we supposed to do?

There is no Haley vs Arians.

Arians should have never been forced out of here.

Haley shouldn't be forced out of here either. He's doing fine.

Somebody is pointing out our point production was low in the playoffs as a black mark against Haley? Seriously? We played against a TOUGH Cincy D at their place, with Ben missing a big portion of the second half, in the biggest game of their franchise's past quarter-century. That team gave us everything they had (and we still beat 'em). And facing Denver's D without AB or Bell or DeAngelo? A D that has compared to the best D's in NFL history? To put that on Haley is ridonculous.

Do not try and debate OC's. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. There is no Haley vs Arians.

I feel like the Steelers should have blown out the Bengals since it only rained when the Bengals had the ball.

Hard to blow out rivals either way you dice it up unless your New England vs their Iv squad of a division. I've said it before, we should've man handled the Broncs too even down bell and D will. But we didn't, and had we did, I just don't know that we wouldn't have laid down in New England like every other time

    It was a joke.

The backup what's his name with the hot girlfriend Catherine Webb's man... he said it was raining whenever the Bengals had the ball but stopped for the Steelers.

I like Haley's play-calling better... even though sometimes he makes me go... "WTF?!?!?"

I was never an Arians-hater... but I thought he called a piss-poor game in SBXLV. Some of the fault for the over-dependency on Wallace in that game may have Ben's fault. With that said... I thought Arians was brilliant in XLIII. Arians' offense was obviously inferior to Arizona's... but the Steelers O still managed to not beat themselves in that game.
