If Roethlisberger goes down for a significant number of games, the season is over anyway. Landry Jones is fine as the back up and Dustin Vaughn can be the number 3. If Brian Hoyer doesn't sign with anybody and he's willing to take the vet minimum, I would sign him.

I wish the Steelers would carry just two quarterbacks on the roster and use the 53rd spot for an extra running back. Much better bang for the buck.

I look at it like buying Gold when the price of Metal is low and projected to go higher, and to further strengthen that position the value of the dollar is forecasted to be lower as well. This makes investing in the Gold and not the 401 K plan a wise and healthy decision...

    What's going on with Gradkowski?

@PWP@PWP your scenario was creative thinking. Just too much risk for me. I know Acorrsi drafted Rivers assuming he could flip him to the Chargers for Eli. Worked for him but I think Lynch is a lesser commodity.

Not a good analogy. Gold and currency are liquid assets that can be immediately liquidated to cut your losses if the market moves against you. It's more like using a bridge loan to buy an illiquid asset like real estate because you think the parcel will be attractive to a mall developer. The problem is that there are very few mall developers, and while you think the land will have value to them, you don't really know their business models and whether there are other parcels of land that they prefer. So, what happens if you don't get your price and the bridge loan is nearing expiration? You either unload the parcel at a loss, or you refinance and are stuck with it. Now you've got equity in an investment that may appreciate or depreciate, and doesn't fit your investment profile as well as the investment you would have made had you not SPECULATED on the short term value of the parcel of land.

It would be incredibly foolish. It's like a Ralph Kramden scheme. Just trade down.
