The Steelers should consider him in the second round maybe, 6'1 201 4.44 forty. He played cornerback, nickelback, and safety in his career he had 5 FF in 2015 considered a lights out hitter.

I wouldn't be happy if they took him in the 2nd round. From a technique standpoint, he doesn't do a lot of things well that good corners do. There should be better safety options and better corner options in the first 3 rounds.

Yeah the second round maybe too high, I like his versatility though. CBSSports has Davis ranked as the 9th best CB, and projects him to be a third round pick. If the Steelers could get him in the 3rd I would be okay with that, his technique flaws could be corrected with coaching.

I hadn't had a chance to watch him yet, but finally watched 2 of his games this AM. The Bowling Green game was hard to watch, especially the 2nd half (and the 4th quarter - just ugh). They were both 2015 games, so I watched him as a corner. I'll have to watch some 2014 games when I get a chance to see him at safety. The good thing is that he has the physical tools to play somewhere in the defensive backfield at the NFL level, and is not contact shy at all - solid tackler. He's a guy who should contribute as a solid special teams player while we learns. However, I think TTF's comment about technique at corner was a kind understatement. I would give him a 5th or later grade as a corner. Hopefully I'll have a chance to watch him as a safety before draft day.

only games I could find easily for his 2014 games were vs Iowa and Penn State. They were full games.

In the Penn state game he goes to corner early on to replace an injured CB.

I agree he has some raw skill ,but his tape doesn't look 2nd. round material to me either . I am not sure how good he can be at Safety ? He may be a Shamarko type and not so good and diagnosing plays fastly..

I'm going to defer to Colbert. He did the research and if he thinks this kid can be a good safety, then well give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

    Pretty good tweet:

Carnell Lake on Sean Davis: He knows three languages (English, French, Chinese)...I'm not worried about him picking up our playbook.

No more excuses Carnell Lake the team has given you decent talent to work with now high draft picks in Golson, Burns, and Davis. Now coach these guys up and get them to playing Steelers football ;)

Yes sir, if Carnell could just get them to play like he did that would be great. We shall see.

I like his 6-1 size and he is a big time hitter, I think he's a perfect fit at Strong safety for us, he ranked number 2 in his conference with 5 forced fumbles to go along with 3 picks:

    CBS Sports overview:

IN OUR VIEW: Another cornerback/safety hybrid, Davis boasts the size, length and muscular build that NFL scouts covet in the secondary. He is an aggressive run defender with the tackling skills and power to dislodge the football, ranking second in the FBS last season with five forced fumbles. Davis, who was listed as a safety at the Senior Bowl, has some 'tweener traits as an athlete, so his performance in pre-draft drills will give teams a better idea of his best position in the NFL.

If you didn't watch his tape and just went off of his production and combine numbers you might think he was a top 10 pick.

I'm glad the Steelers went CB and S with the first two rounds. We've been saying that most of the offseason and although they may not be everyone's favorite, I like them and how they addressed the secondary with premium picks. I'll trust their evaluations and along with Golson from last year should boost that group tremendously.

This will end up being a very nice pick, and I was skeptical at first because Simmons is sort of the same deal CB/S but I thought he was better. But he doesnt hit like Davis, run like Davis, and isnt as strong and good in run support.

Please stop quoting media outlets calling him a "hybrid CB/S"- it only makes it clearer that they're gas-bagging.

He begged the coach to be played a CB to improve his NFL stock & preserve his body, and got absolutely shredded in 2015- and he wasn't even matched up against the #1 WR. Will Likely is the #1 CB at UMD.

    He is a Safety.
