What are you even talking about? I just checked the various sites that track visits and interviews, and there are no reports that we even talked to Williams, never mind being "zeroed in" on him. There are no facts to support that :bscow: about Williams.

They probably talked to him at the Combine, but they certainly didn't wine and dine him or even host him for a private visit. You can bet they weren't "zeroed" in on him when they didn't take the steps they do with their first round targets.

Kiper and McShay thought we would take Williams... Hell the Ravens certainly thought we were gonna take him. That doesn't mean by any stretch of the imagination that we were set on taking him. We got Green a year later. I can live with it. Hopefully Golson turns into a good player. He's the guy we have.

    IKR?!

I'm pretty happy with the way James is developing and they just signed Green. James was a year younger than Williams and was "raw" with "room to grow" in many scouts reports.

I think, maybe....with how close the combine numbers were Williams only beat him in the 40 by .05 seconds and the 20 yard shuttle by .15 seconds. Every other category James beat him in. He's also got 3 inches and 15 pounds on him, so....IJS

I'm starting to realize some people just hallucinate things and then post those thoughts on here as facts.

Kind of like this reply, now that I think of it.

I wish I were hallucinating the contract that Cortez Allen signed. You can make all the excuses about Colbert you want. But out side of the obvious bias Steeler fan, he's not as good as you think. Ranking him at 13 is accurate when you step away from the bias ones.

But, coming up on the draft I will hope for better days.

    Kettle meet pot.

I don't think any of us ever said he is perfect but with his overall body of work, pretty obvious to most that he is a top 10 GM, easy.

Cortez contract wasnt his best moment but no one has a crystal ball. At the time of that contract, Tez was playing pretty darn well and meets your physical requirements you are always beating the drum about. If you're honest, you probably thought it was a good signing at the time.

Only obvious to you and bias Steeler fans. The man who wrote the article is more objective. Your not. Of course you feel that way. Very few of a team's fan base can be un-bias. Your obviously not. And that's cool. We are all Steeler fans in the end.

An objective writer wrote the story. He ranked the General Managers. It didn't agree with your take; it agreed with mine. What more is there to say? It shows that outside of the Steeler faithful, Colbert isn't considered that great. It is what it is.

And I showed you an article that has him ranked as 6th best but you didn't like that one because it didn't agree with your view. Why you so biased? :lolol:

Who cares if it didn't include the 2015 season, you've never considered Colbert 6th best.

Your article was old; mine was current. And we are living in the current..the now. If you look back far enough, you can find great stuff on Richard Nixon before watergate.zzzzzzzzzzzzz

So you're admitting you're not one of the Steelers faithful?

I'm a Steelers faithful, but I can look at my team objectively. Just because you critic something you love, doesn't mean you don't love them. And just because I don't give a glowing endorsement to Colbert doesn't mean I don't root like hell for him once the draft whistle blows and the draft starts.

I'm definitely a Steeler faithful. I'm just not myopic.

Everybody in this room has a family member that your hard on. But it doesn't mean you don't love that person. You just want them to do better. Same thing.

the funniest thing is that the debate is essentially raging over whether Colbert is the 13th best GM or top 10. I think I'm going to start a new debate about whether the Browns are the worst team in the league, or 3rd worst, and just watch the fur fly!

Actually, he's top 5, just taking baby steps. If I try to expose Dean to that truth, this will be him...

Nothing wrong with not agreeing with everything the team does, but nonstop complaining gets a little boring.
Happens a lot with newbies, they think they're the only ones to figure out perceived flaws. Do a little research and you'll find out that this stuff has already been debated in depth around here long ago.

    I'll save you some trouble.
    Tomlin sucks.
Ben holds the ball too long.
    Pouncey is injury prone.
    Jarvis Jones is a bust.
    Bell is injury prone.
    Ben is a rapist.
    Blake stinks.
    Boykin is a world beater
DHB is the key to our success.
    Tomlin sucks at clock management

These are just a few topics that have been debating to exhaustion around here.

It's not outrage. It's spirited debate about a subject. However, I think you bring out the passion in some debaters with some of the things you say to support your argument. If it weren't for the constant mention of the 13th ranking by the guy from Roto Rooter, I'd swear that you think Colbert is a blithering idiot from the way you talk about him. It makes me wonder if you think the other 19 GMs in the league can even get through the workday without pooping their pants.

One other thing on the Colbert subject. The ultimate measure of a GM is how his teams perform over the long haul. He's been doing this for over 15 years, and has one losing season. That losing season was followed up by a 15-1 season and then a championship the year after that. He has a team that's gone 2-1 in SBs during his tenure. Without cheating. I know some people like to play the "what have you done for me lately" game (me included upon occasion), but it's hard to poke holes at his track record over the long haul.
