Don't we definitely play the NFC East this year? I was thinking the last time we played them was in 2012 because I remember losing on that stupid INT in Dallas. You know. The one where Mike Wallace, the fastest dude in the history of the universe, made the worst effort of all time to stop the guy that had just picked the ball off? Yeah. That one.

Regular season schedule is out about a week early this year. Strangely enough, preseason schedule isn't out yet? Maybe they are combining them to make it a bigger NFL Channel "Event"?

I predict 9 home games and 7 away games, because we OWN Paul Brown stadium.

Same here, looks like that will be the away game this year that will be traveled the most. Hope it's in Dec and not in Sept when it could be 90 degrees with 90 per cent humidity. Will also definitely going either way.

I'm itching to see it. I want the Patriots in Brady's 4 game suspension. I've decided I'll take the wins anyway I can get them and then eliminate Brady later in the playoffs. In Pitssburgh.

We better get the Bungles during one of the first 3 games while Burfict is out on suspension. Personally I wish the NFL punished Burfict stating he has to miss both Steeler games and one other in which the Bungles choose. In my opinion it isn't fair to punish him for the way he played last year in the playoff game and then allow him to face us twice this season.

Cool little summary on how the schedule is made from Steelers web page:... This is the day that NFL schedule makers take pride in, and teams and fans take great joy in. It's the day the NFL schedule is released.

How many national television games will there be? Will the Steelers open at home or on the road? When will the matchups against the AFC North teams be?

All of those questions will be answered tonight (April 14) at 8 p.m. when the schedule is released and available on Steelers.com with full coverage available.

The NFL schedule used to be determined by the patient and thoughtful work of one individual, Val Pinchbeck, the former head of broadcasting for the NFL. For 30 years he went through it game by game, doing it all by hand, a labor of love that he took great pride in.

Today, though, it's a team of four who work on it, with 84 computers at their disposal to help figure out the logistics over a three month period. It's a balancing act, fitting 256 games, played by 32 teams, in a 17-week schedule while keeping all the networks happy.

And that's not it. There are travel schedules that have to be taken into consideration for teams going coast-to-coast for a game. There is flex scheduling that plays into it. There are bye weeks that to be scheduled in a fitting manner. And with games being played on multiple days, a competitive balance need to be considered.

The only thing that is decided in advance for the schedule makers is who the teams will play, something that comes into focus when the season ends. According to NFL Football Operations, here is a look at what goes into deciding the opponents.

    > Every team plays six games against the other three teams in its division, facing off twice per season - once at home and once on the road.

    > Every team plays one game against each of the four teams from a division within its conference - two games at home and two on the road. Which division a team plays is determined by a rotation system ensuring that the teams in one division will play the teams in every other division in its conference once every three years.

    > Every team plays one game against each of the four teams from a division in the other conference once per season - two games at home and two on the road. These matchups are also determined by a rotation, which ensures that all teams play every team from every division in the other conference once every four years.

    > Every team plays its remaining two games against teams from the two remaining divisions in its own conference - one game at home and the other on the road. The matchups are determined by where the teams finished in their divisions in the previous season. For example, a team that finished the previous year in third place in its division will play the third-place teams from the two other divisions in its conference.
