I would be more worried about what the Patriots are doing, they got Martellus Bennett, Chris Long, Terrence Knighton. I view them as the Steelers main competition in the AFC to get to the Super Bowl.

They're pretty much everybody's main competition in the AFC really.

As much as I hate to say it , they are still the team to beat. Plus Tom Brady/ Pats owns us.

As long as our corners give cushions to below average WR's, Brady will continue to own us. We get corners who can play tight man on man coverage, and we can beat Brady; make hold that ball and take a pounding.

Yes - Brady has been getting worse and worse throwing long, so the key is to disrupt his timing and quick release.

This is why botched assignments, like we saw against them last season, are inexcusable.

It's not necessarily about playing man on man, I think, but rather getting players in areas where he expects to see space, and disrupting routes. Thing is, everyone knows this... not too may successful at getting it done.

When we have played well against Brady is when he was forced to throw quick. Without a rush, we are toast.

People have said this since Dick was here and now Keith. People act like the defensive scheme is to give up the cushion like there is a choice.
We do not have the personnel to play hit or bump at line and still make a decent play to the ball.

And that has changed in the last ten years?

Agreed. And that's why this draft is so important. To fix that.

would be nice for Brady to retire so Ben can get a couple of shots at a SB. Then we also have the Gayvens/Raisins/Ratbirds/John Hairballs

Watching Denver constantly hitting Brady like he was a piƱata was funny.

The joy that I experienced seeing some of the faces that he was making after taking hits was glorious

Our pass rush is pretty decent; If we just get the corners who cover those 5-7 yard routes tight and make Brady hold that ball, which would allow Tuitt and company to lay the smack on Brady. We are not far off.

And then there is Gronkowski, week 1 2015, 8 targets 5 receptions 94 yards 3 TDs, gronk has always been a tough matchup for years against this defense...

It helps if you actually put someone on him. The week one strategy of leaving Gronk completely uncovered didn't pan out so well. If folks remember, our coverage on TEs in the preseason was unbelievably awful. Just think of the Buffalo game. It was the canary in the coal mine. Fast forward to mid season, and we pretty much shut down Tyler Eifert. My point is, we improved significantly covering TEs over the course of the year. Gronk will always be a tough matchup, but we should do better in our next meeting.

We did do better against tight ends the rest of the season, only giving up 5 TDs, but gronk just has the ability to score against us ever since his rookie season, granted he is a gifted TE but we have to get better at covering him in the future....

Have to agree; where was the coverage on him? What exactly was the plan/scheme? And I'd like to think our TE coverage got better. It will be supremely tested again this year.

More than anything I think it can be chalked up to it being the first game under a new defensive coordinator, and players still not knowing what their assignments were in certain circumstances. It was happening all preseason, and didn't get fixed in time. He'll still make some plays against us when we meet again because well, he's Gronk, but at least we'll have one or two defenders in the same zip code next time we play.

I can live with that. And bad field goal kicking too. :)

Brady is 38 so he is about to hit 'the wall.' This will be the Pats last season to win another Super Bowl with him at the helm.

    Not worried about the Pats.

They've won one championship in the last 11 years. And they fixed their secondary when they won with Revis & Browner. When they went back to being cheap in the secondary, they don't win jack.
