    Not that I know of.

Only thing directly from the team that I heard about was during the season when Tomlin was praising Weddle. I guess that just blew up into us being one of the finalists for his services.

I don't think the Steelers ever made a offer, just because Tomlin praised Weddle in the past fans and media overreact to the interest from the team. It was just wishful thinking on the part of the fans IMO.

    This is what thought.

    What's the off-season without non-stories, I guess?

I saw on three different sights all saying the Steelers offered Weddle a contract.

They were never a player. According to the team, they stopped monitoring the situation the weekend before he signed. Knew he wanted too much.

Hey, he's worried about Perriman but hell, A.J. Green is absolutely killing us every time he sees our secondary. Tears of joy come streaming from his eyes as he lines up against WHOEVER we put over there. We are probably going to put that shrimp DB who's 5'8' over there on him. And some of you guys say height doesn't matter?

We need a six foot cornerback who can play man on man coverage. Perriman, A.J., we can't handle either or with the talent-challenged crew we have now.

Throwing money at an aging safety would not have helped this defense and it won't help the Ravens.

Weddle likely has one or two good years left if that.

Steelers need to find their young secondary in the draft ASAP and let them build chemistry ASAP.

Ben's window is closing all the time.

I was interested in this as while I remember some good games he's had against us, I also remember him being kept rather quiet in others, so I looked it up. It turns out that Green has had some monster games against us (he posted 200-odd yards in one game in 2014), but certainly not consistently. Same fixture the year before he amassed a whopping 41 yards off 6 catches.

Just to be a stats geek, let's look at yards over times targeted - a good stat for monitoring how 'abused' a secondary is, as it removes the bias from any huge yardage gained on one play - for the last six regular season meetings, going backwards from now:

    2015:
    14.67
    6.94

    2014:
    6.31
    14.93

    2013:
    5.17
    2.93

Some very good games there, for sure; and some average ones. Compare this to Baltimore over the same period (he missed one game):

    2015:
    6.80
    17.46

    2014:
    14.56

    2013:
    6.10
    10.07

Certainly comparable, if not slightly worse. He's scored 6 TDs against both teams over his career, but played the Steelers twice more.

Green is a great receiver, no doubt. But he's not killing us every time he sees us, and no more than he is our other divisional rivals.

I don't think there's any argument that we need to upgrade the secondary though.

    2015 season:

First game against the Bengals: A.J. Green had 11 receptions for 118 yards and 1 TD.
Second game against the Bengals: 6 receptions for 132 yards and 1 TD.

    2014 season:

First game against the Bengals: A.J. Green had 11 receptions for 224 yards and 1 TD.
Second game against the Bengals: A.J. Green had 8 receptions for 82 yards and 0 TD.

Bye and large Green is having his way with our secondary.

Ike Taylor used to shut down Green before 2014.

Well, we need a new # 1 cornerback;that's for sure. Putting a guy like Golson on A. J. is similar to leaving Jerry Sandusky (A.J. Green) with a 10 year old boy (Golson).

The Ravens have lost Courtney Upshaw to FA, I think ILB Darryl Smith also left. I'm not impressed with what they did in FA.

If the Ravens got on a plane and got stranded on Gilligan's island somewhere, I'd be happy .

I don't see the offseason moves where the Ravens gained on us by leaps and bounds as the OP suggests. Did they sign Boykin?? Ok seriously though, they lost some guys and we did as well. They got Eric Weddle, big whoop. They lost Upshaw too which is big imo. The only way they can gain some ground is with some effective drafting. And we'll see how that goes in a month.

After reading the title of this thread again I think there are four words missing:

The Ravens are crapping all over at the thought of us this offseason

Weddle has no chance at keeping up with any of our receivers. And we all know Wallace is not going to jump for Joe Flaccos moon balls.

Revenge is a hell of a motivation. I think Wallace will jump for those moon balls. Just out of spite.

Regardless if Wallace catches balls thrown his way or not Flacco is notorious for throwing them up there to get the PI calls

Yeah..and he gets his PI calls too. But pressured, he throws picks like candy at Halloween time too.
