I seen a story on bleacher report linking him to steelers and a mock with us taking him in the 3rd.

First question is will he be available in the 3rd?

Next, would anyone be opposed? I love him and would like it personally

I give him a 10% chance to drop out of the first round. The chances he's there at the end of the third? Let's just say there's a better chance of you being attack by a shark -- in your living room. Not happening.

I like Lynch as a QB, especially if he has time to marinate. Big (biiiiig) pocket passer who can move in the pocket and keeps plays alive with his feet? Hmmm. As far as our pick in the 1st round, I'd prefer a DB. Our Superbowl window is closing within three-five years (sooner perhaps if Ben keeps on his injury track). Technically speaking, if we had a QB waiting in the wings that window is open longer if he pans out, but let's bet on our current Hall of Fame QB right now and get to 7. I am quite alright with a QB in the 1st next year.

I see Lynch going to the Broncos at the end of the first round. But if they don't take him, no way we see him in the 3rd because he'll be gone in the early to middle second round for sure.

I guess i just don't see it??????? Pretty much after Wentz the rest are backups in the NFL.
Oh that's right we have one of them already on the roster.

I haven't been watching QB film, but Goff is widely regarded as highly as Wentz. Who is 1st and who is 2nd depends on which "expert's" opinion you're reading. Lynch has all of the tools physically. If teams are satisfied that he's up to the task mentally, he'll go to someone in the 1st round.

Pittsburgh does seem intent on taking a QB this year, but they've mostly met with mid to late rounders. Prescott being the highest rated in that 3-5 range from most accounts. I think they pass on a QB until their 6th or 7th and will keep Gradkowski on speed dial if the QBs they like aren't there in those last two rounds.

Not sure how many more years Landry Jones has on his rookie contract, 1 maybe?, but if they don't like the progression, next year will be a whole different story come draft time. Beathard from Iowa and OConnor from MSU will be two guys I'll watch.

I like Goff more than Wentz personally. I hate wasting QB picks but we really need to think of a solution for our backup. Landry isn't it.

I'd rather just rely on a veteran QB for now. No more wasting picks until we are ready to make a serious investment (1st or 2nd) down the road.

Let's me adjust 4th or later, with our needs I don't want a QB any earlier then the 4th. Add to that Hogan is smart and has the physical tools and comes from a very good offense, being molded by Ben as a solid back up is a perfect combo.

He is intriguing isn't he? Hehehe. To me, he's the one with the sneaky upside.

If we somehow got an additional 3rd or 4th round pick, I'd use it on Hogan. Smart and seems to have all the physical intangibles you'd want. Sit him a few years and I think we might have something.

I'd be mad if they took any late round QB except for Hogan. LOL

I like Hogan I think he would be one heck of a back up here and a player I would feel comfortable in case we are without Ben a game or two, maybe not right off the bat but maybe by midseason. Other guys I would look at much later maybe even fa are Sudfeld, Driskel, Coker and Kessler. Also a guy I am looking at too is Adams, he is more out of the Russell Wilson mold imo.

I feel a lot about prospect are where they go and the situation they are in. The above mentioned guys could really benefit from learning from Ben and all the talent our offense has. I really haven't studied the QB's much I watched some in the Shrine game and Senior bowl also while watching CB and S film. I think there is more then just Hogan out there.

You want a project like hogan who will need 4 years to become just a backup, in 4 years we need a QB ready to replace Ben, and Hogan isn't that guy IMO??? And Lynch will be drafted in the 1st round somewhere a little before or after 20!!!

    WEAKNESSES
Mechanics and footwork are a mess. Throws with a very wide base, a pitcher's stride and a protracted delivery. Ball rarely comes out of his hands cleanly. Plays flat-footed in the pocket with little bounce as he scans field and does a poor job of resetting and coming to balance before delivery. Below-average arm strength and struggles to consistently make accurate, catchable throws to the field side. Average at reading defenses, preventing him from getting ball out on time. Needs much more poise and pocket awareness. Had issues climbing and sliding to clean areas of the pocket when they were there. Drops eyes and immediately panics when pressure is mounting in his face. Took sacks he had no business taking. Lacking desired touch and accuracy on his deep throws.

    BOTTOM LINE
Hogan has the size, mobility and quarterback's demeanor that could interest a team on the third day of the draft. He doesn’t have the arm that many teams look for and his intermediate and deep accuracy still need work. Hogan will need time and coaching to try and improve his mechanics and footwork if he wants to have a shot to be an NFL backup.

See Phillip Rivers, same thing was said about him, he did ok. I do not think Hogan will take 4 years to be a back up, I think by mid season he could be the back up. It's a crap shoot anyways but I think this kid has the size smarts and experience to learn from Ben and be a solid back up, jmo.

Where is Hogan going to get all his experience by mid season to be a backup, he has so many flaws to be corrected and playing time behind ben and jones will be so minimal he will still be raw going into the 17 season, living in the south west I watched Hogan play at stanford a lot, and the last two years chris mcCaffery was 75% of their offense and hogan wasnt impressive at all basically just a very average game manager at best, he never will be anything but a backup project so why waste the time with him trying to learn an offense he will never fit into with his limited talent....

Still think I'd take a chance on QB Joel Stave in the 7th or UDFA. 6'5" 31-10 record. Would prefer UDFA of course, but worth a look in camp imo.

A lot of what I read was about his mechanics were bad which caused his throws to be off target, you don't think that could be fixed in the NFL? I understand what you saying about McCaffery but still the kid completed 68% last year, I just think coming from that system and playing as many games as he did he could be a decent NFL QB, jmo as I respect yours as well.

From what you are saying you have seen him play a bit where I have only watched a little, read more then I watched so I guess you have a better sample to work with. I think learning from our coaches as well as one of the best qb's in the league will really help him. Just because he don't get 1st team reps don't mean he isn't learning, I feel just the opposite. Let him come in learn the system and ease into it, and if he could be successful with McCaffery he could be with AB.

Hogan reminds me of Chad Henne, only Henne was more pro ready than Hogan is when he was drafted by the Dolphins in the second round, both QBs are 6-3 about 230, can Hogan become a solid backup in the NFL, maybe if a team sticks with him long enough to find out......

Well, in this draft, we are about to find out what management really thinks of Laundry Jones. If they take a QB, then they too are not feeling Landry. He showed a flash or two. But still, I'm not sold either.
