Just saw on PFT that Sean Spence has a trip scheduled with the Dolphins. I'd hate to see him leave after the Steelers waited in him for 2 years to heal up but I guess we have depth at ILB. Still hate to see him go though.

He's from there. Played High School and College in Florida. Probably giving them a hometown discount

Yeah, I feel like we held on to him...way longer then any other team would have

I have mixed emotions about this, like it was pointed out we waited 2 years for this kid coming off an injury some called career threatening. He came back and has played well now he may be gone, I kinda of feel we need to get a discount to keep him since we stuck with him, however I know this kid needs to do what is $$$ right for him.
Good luck Sean, now I also feel there are some nice bargains out there as a replacement. I know we have Williams and some here are high on Fort but I think with Shaziers history we should bring in a guy that maybe has some more experience. Both Ryans and Carter are coming off bad seasons but have shined in the 3-4. I am looking not to spend a lot but right here are 2 guys that could come cheap.

Also a few names to look at and keep in mind for depth are Tullock, Laurinitis and Lofton. Now right there are 5 names and if we could get just one on the cheap to go along with Williams and Fort we are solid and ILB wouldn't have to be addressed. It also protects us in case of an injury at a time where we are looking more at the big picture the next 2-3 years.

I don't think he will receive a lot. Unless the Steelers just don't want him, they should be able to re-sign him.

I would like to see him retained as well. I'm sure he loves Pittsburgh for their loyalty, but going back home could be a huge draw for him.

    I hope you`re right...

I would like to see him stay here, but the lure of home could be strong...

Time will tell... Hope he is still in Black and Gold next season.

    GO STEELERS!

    Agreed.

I read somewhere the other day that Spence "would be a starter on many other NFL rosters", but I'm not sure - he fits in well in rotation with Shazier, and I think as a full time starter he wouldn't be as effective (just yet in his career, anyway). I'd like to think we could hang on to him.

Just to be a grump here but he isn't a very good open field tackler.

Is that much different from the other 10 guys out there with him this past season?

He knows how to play football, if it wasn't for his injury, we wouldn't
be bitching as to why Shazier can't stay on the field.
