but i think there is a good possibility that they look early for a qb in this draft. i'm thinking anywhere from 2nd to 4th is possible if the right guy is sitting there. if not at least by the 7th. i'm leaning towards conner cook, hackenbe-u-rg-h < already has burgh in his name like da burgh and roethlis - burg-h-er does. it's like a no brainer. (i know this is a stretch):smiley1: they have talked to dak prescott too and he falls right around this area. i just wouldn't be suprised if they would do this after some of the FA signings we have made and the length of those deals.

If the future franchise qb is there I'm all for it. I would rather have the heir already in house over scrambling to find one

I am actually for it. we cant wait to address it. jones isn't the answer so try again. I actually like Prescott. not sure he will ever be more than a great college qb but he has some tools

yep strummer, i have always felt this way. we can get a jump on waiting until the last minute to find a 1st rounder that will work. this way we already know if a lesser round guy has the goods. i'm leaning towards connor cook possibly in the 2nd or hackenberg possibly in the 3rd. they both have a lot to work with and we have the time now to do that. landry can remain the backup as far as i'm concerned too. we need 3. i wouldn't force one this early but if A guy they like falls to them, then by all means yes.

I'd like for you guys to roll some names out there as far as who you think we can get to sit on the bench and he'll be what we want down the line?

Well, according to the Steelers' strong interest in each, I'm guessing Dak Prescott and Vernon Adams. Personally I'd be much more satisfied with Prescott, but there we'd likely be talking a 2nd rounder, maaaaaybe a 3rd. Depending on how FA shakes out with our secondary I'm not sure I'd want to give up our 2nd on a QB. I'm sure my position will change once we get closer to the draft, one way or the other.

I watched a lot of MSU games this year and Connor Cook was OK. I didn't see anything spectacular but you would expect that with his mid round grades. But I'm starting to hear a lot of negative things about his leadership. Not voted a team captain even after his career record there is very telling. Interviews have not been favorable either according to reports. Just something to consider.

Ugh.... this makes me so ticked.

Look what Elway did with Peyton... he sold the farm and picked up a few great FA's to win NOW with his Franchise QB.

Big Ben is still playing at a very VERY high level. Even if we draft a 2nd round guy he is no good to us this year or maybe even the next. He will still be learning the offense.

I was looking at next year as the time to start searching for Bens replacement. With the limited amount of picks they have, I prefer they don't spend one on a QB yet. Not an early pick anyway.

And... John Elway also drafted Brock Osweiler in the 2nd round right after signing Manning, and without his strong performance during his 7 game starting stretch, they probably don't get home field or win the Super Bowl. I'm with you on not wanting to draft a QB early, but there is a valid counterpoint to the argument.

If they did draft a QB in the early rounds it would be stupid, this team has a 2 year window to win a Super Bowl. They don't have depth at DL, DB and could use some depth at OL. I'm not worried about Ben's replacement right now, this draft should be all about defense. If they want to draft a QB in the 7th rd then fine.

I still want Matt Moore. Has he signed anywhere yet?

Your right Mac, I don't like it. If they really see a successor to #7 in this draft
then by all means sign him up.#7 window is short, I have an idea, JMO that
he is not in this draft. I would like to see how the Steelers handle Grad and Jones,
Then I think will determine if the Steelers select a QB. Do you see Ben's successor in this draft?

I do too, Denver looks like a logical landing spot, don't you think? And Elway will draft
another. I have a feeling Denver will be moving up or making a deal. Sam Bradford
would be my choice for Denver to make with Philly? Denver is still built to win NOW.
although they have taken a beating in FA. They maybe behind Oakland as of today? LOL

nobody knows. i know there are some decent qb's out there and i'm not a big fan in waiting until the last minute to force a first round pick on one. then we end up with mark malones and such. this way we see earlier if we have a capable guy in the pipeline or we keep looking.

hackenberg was a good qb at PSU but they did him no favors with a terrible O-line. cook won a lot of games at MSU. prescott won a lot of games at MSU. i also think there could be a couple of guys later too.

nows the time while we have ben. that gives us a tremendous cushion to do it at this point. just as heath was getting up there and showing some age, but still playing at a high level, it will eventually happen to ben and i'd hope we start looking for our next guy before we come on here to find out ben has decided to retire. then we will have to scramble to find someone.

i'm just saying if one of these guys drop into our laps a round or two later than they should, i wouldn't hesitate to grab them.

I watched Matt Moore about 4 years ago and I always thought that if he had a pretty stacked team around him, He'd be a great game managing QB. I"ve been surprised that the Rams or Broncos (teams with good defenses) don't give him a sniff.

    Especially the Rams.

I guess I do not see Ben's successor in this draft, so why draft a QB?So we can have
another Landry Jones????? No thanks, much more help needed at critical positions. Nobody
has been more vocal of Ben's regression than myself. His time is limited, but
you have to find the right guy.We are in or should be in a (WIN NOW PHASE)
get the necessary pieces now to put us over the top.

Ben's not getting any younger, and we all saw what the offensive debacle with Landry Jones and Michael Vick behind center.
