Steelers sign two players, release three

The Steelers signed long-snapper Matt Dooley and defensive tackle Lavon Hooks, it was announced today.

Dooley was a tryout participant for the Steelers' 2015 rookie mini-camp. He played collegiately at Indiana.

Hooks spent the 2015 training camp with the Green Bay Packers before being released on August 31, 2015. He originally signed with the Packers as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 8, 2015.

The Steelers released tight end Rob Blanchflower and offensive tackles Kelvin Palmer and Mitchell Van Dyk.

 

That didn't take long

 

i'm glad we have another long snapper getting familiar with the team. always good to have a guy like that on speed dial just in case.

Yeah if we could start generating a solid rush again it would be huge in helping our secondary out. Especially if we're gonna have young corners on the field next year.

 

I saw Hooks is a DL and immediately wondered if Thomas was gone.

Thomas contract is up, don't expect him to be re-signed.
