I'm still baffled how well our O-line did against these Denver D beasts - does that mean our O-line > Pats and > Panthers O-line or was Denver perhaps looking ahead to NE when they played us in the Divisional round and didn't game plan as well as their next two games. As I was watching the NE game and then the SB L game, couldn't help but thinking this isn't the same Denver D that we played against twice and couldn't/should've beat both times. While not a Denver fan at all, I really enjoyed every single moment of the beat down on the cocky Fig Newton. I think they implode a bit next year regardless and realize it's not easy putting together Super Bowl seasons. Now I hope Cam goes for a little joy ride in the off-season with Blount and Holmes.

Just thinking out loud, but I wonder if the injuries we had, and the way the regular season game ended, caused Denver to second guess things a little too much. They had a clear gameplan for Brady and Newton, but less so for Ben.

Let's put all this What-might-have-been talk into perspective.

In The last 4 games they played, the Steelers:
    - Lost to a lousy Balt team, QB'd by Ryan Mallet
    - Struggled with an even lousier Cle team led by Austin Davis
    - Blew a 15-0 lead in Cincy, and only won due to the Bengals colossal self destruction
    - Blew a late lead in Den and let a rag arm Peyton Manning score on 3 of his last 4 possessions.

Yes. They might have made the Super Bowl if Toussaint doesn't fumble. But, they played bad enough to lose any of the games above, and I suspect could easily have lost in NE or to Carolina. Heck, if Ryan Fitzpatrick plays a bit better his last game, the off season talk is all about how this underachieving bunch keeps missing the playoffs.

Personally, given the state of the D, and the injuries on O, I think they went about as far as they could go this year. They just teased everyone by playing well in Den and making it close.

Well even if we would have beat Denver, there was probably no way we beat the Pats in Foxborough. Goddell would have made sure of it. LOL

I will not disagree however if he lost I just had a feeling he would have wanted another shot. Heck I would not be surprised if the Broncos are not sold on asswipper and ask Peyton to come back for one more year trade up and get a Goff or Lynch and have Peyton groom him for the 2017 season. I just have a feeling Peyton knows he should retire but don't want to go out as a qb who was just a game manager. jmo

He has no other choice. If he comes back for one more year, he's not going to do anything and grooming another QB will just mean he will go out as a game managing QB groomer (in the eyes of some). I agree that if he had lost, he might have thought about one more year even though that would have been a mistake. He should retire and go back to Tennessee to be a QB coach that was rumored.

Peytons not stupid, he knows how hard it is to get to the SB let alone win one. So even if he came back and magically had an MVP type season, theres no guarantee that Denver wins another one.

I'm sure he'd much rather go out the way he did, a SB winner.

He needs a serious talk with the Bus. Worked out great for #36 and what - 6 years later in the HOF - of course they will approve an accelerated HOF timeline for Manning and then Brady when the time comes (hoping real soon) - we need to get that boogey man out of the AFC and the NFL ASAP so we can resume normal post season play.

Well I am sure we won't have to wait to long:

    March 8
Last day of the 2015 league year

Broncos: The $19 million base salary ($21.5 million cap number) of quarterback Peyton Manning becomes fully guaranteed. If Manning decides to retire or is released, the Broncos will gain $19 million of cap room.

We should begin to collectively market inflatable bronze colored Brady HOF busts that only partially inflate and then release thousands of them at his Canton coronation that will just barely hover over the event due to a slight lack of helium. What a Fuji moment. :hmm:

And they badly need the cap room, both Oswiller and Von Miller are free agents, and they can only franchise tag one of them, both will be a big cap hit, I expect them to tag Miller since he wants a super pay day, which may even turn him into a camp holdout, they can back load a 5 year deal for Oswiller the easiest and cheapest way out for them, so, manning is the odd man out, but of course he already knows that, and even if he could work a 1 year deal with another team he wont find one with a top defense to carry him with his noodle arm....

Manning knows his time is up. Like you said no other team has the defense to carry his huge head and little arm.

No other team has a helmet that will fit. Denver had to have it specially made.
