Tuesday the Steelers met with only USC quarterback Cody Kessler........interesting and confusing.

    Smooth as silk.

Yeah it's pretty weird that of all the prospects there they only meet with a mid-tier QB.

Curious, did you read an article that mentioned "the Steelers only met with...", or did you see a list of teams and prospects and the only name associated with the Steelers was Kessler? Sometimes those lists don't capture all the action, but if it was an article (or tweet nowdays) it should be pretty accurate.

Read this in the day two notes:

» Speaking of the secondary, it is hard to look at Southern Utah safety Miles Killebrew and not think "Pittsburgh Steelers". On a team full of talkers, Killebrew is fairly quiet on the field, but he communicates with aggressive, physical hitting.

Also on day two some other names to keep en eye on in the game this weekend are CB's Maurice Canady Virgina and Jalen Mills LSU. DT has some names to watch as well, Sheldon Rankins Louisville and Vernon Butler Louisville Tech.

I am not so sure I want to go DT in the 1st round but I am willing to give Rankins a look at. His name keeps popping up on a lot of places I am reading. Something about Louisville defenders the last couple years they are putting out some players.

Yeah, saw that too on NFL.com, and haven't really read much about him until that point. They say his instincts and coverage ability are average, so while he may lay the wood I'm not sure he'll fix what ails us. Still, there's always room for a guy like that.

Yes on Rankins. I saw some footage of the Senior Bowl practice and that dude is wrecking it! He's something we don't have right now and I think he'd do well for us.

Saw that they are taking a look at a WR from Ohio State. Potential Brown, Bryant or Wheaton replacement?

Braxton Miller? By most accounts, he is having a great week. Especially for a guy new to the position.

I still think New England makes a run for Wheaton if he hits the open market.

Yes! I love Braxton's potential, and he is an excellent person off the field. He is one of the most gifted athletes in the whole country. I think he's going to be awesome. I know I'm biased, but I'd take the kid as early as the second round. He could be special.

AB, Bryant and Braxton would be insane

Except for safety Gerod Holliman, that scrub couldn't play a lick.

I believe Wheaton will leave eventually, Thats if MB doesn't screw up. But I don't see it with NE. I am not so sure Wheaton could take the beating
that NE receivers take? Just my opinion.

I strongly disagree, I was his biggest fan here I can remember the kid being projected as a 3rd and ended up a 7th. Yeah the knock on him was he could tackle anything but man the guy was a ballhawker and that was what I wanted him here for. I am pretty sure he didn't play much in the preseason, at least what I watched I didn't see him very much. Maybe that was why he was cut and gone cause he was on the field and we didn't know it, lol. 14 INT's just don't happen you have to have some skill, just not sure what happened.

Yeah that kind of ability doesn't grow on trees. Also read that he's very competitive, which is a huge bonus.

I thought we got the steal of the draft when they selected him. Thought they could have coached up his weaknesses but must have showed absolutely nothing in camp. He's currently on Tampa Bays roster, don't think he has played a snap yet.

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought he was completely out of the league, so I'm glad to see he's still sticking around. I also thought he'd show more than he did and would make our roster, or at least practice squad.

If he could play then the Steelers wouldn't have cut him.

I still stand by that statement I wanted him in the 3rd was jumping for joy when we got him in the 7th, like I said before if I knew so much I wouldn't be here with you guys....lmao. From what I watched on this guy before the draft and seeing his 14 ints I didn't care he couldn't tackle we needed a guy who could get the turn overs. Not sure what happened in camp I wasn't there to see and I tried to read a little but there wasn't much on him. Either way he is gone, but if you go thru the list Louisville put out some nice players over the years and yeah I will admit Holliman is not one of them.... :-(

Yeah cause the Steelers never have cut a player who couldn't play right???? Oh wait wasn't there a few guys we drafted playing oline up in Buffalo Williams and Urbik, really a 2nd rounder????? Let's not forget at that time we needed oline help as well, throw in Hills who sat on our practice squad then had a cup of coffee with us and went on to being an ok starter......not for us yet again as we needed oline help.

I hear what your saying but a lot of times guys just don't fit the system. For every Williams, Urbik and Hills there are the Richardsons, Davis and Sweeds.
