Thats right.... I said it!!! He should be coach of the year!!!! I've had my issues with him, and Ive been puzzled by some of his decisions but you cannot deny the job he's done........ Case in point-

    1) He lost WR Bryant for the 1st 4 games....
    2) He lost the Best RB in the NFL, Bell, early on.
    3) He lost Big Ben for several games.
    4) He lost All Pro Center Pouncey early on.
    5) He Lost RB Williams
    6) He Lost the Best WR Brown at seasons end
    7) He lost Starting LT Beechum
    8) He lost one of the Best K in the NFL, then lost another K, the traded for scooby and had the courage to cut him and go with another teams PS K.
    9) Replaced LeBeau with Butler and the defense improved.
    10) Survived Shark not stepping into troys shoes as expected.
    11) Survived Golsons injury, not contributing to the secondary.
    12) Stole CB Cockerell and played him.
    13) Kept FB Nix even though we had incumbent FB Johnson...... who keeps two FB on the 53 yet it was a very good decision.
    14) Had a 37 yr OLB lead all OLB in Snaps and performance.
    15) Only had two decent DL yet our Sack totals and QB pressures improved.

If not for the Criminal Burfict who took out Ben,Brown,Bell we would be in the Superbowl!!!

    What say you??

Tomlin faced a lot of adversity and brought his team through it, which may be worth a vote from the Pittsburgh journalist, but the real award has to go to Rivera. Carolina is stacked, but what he did this year is no joke.

I would consider Tomlin for AFC coach of the year, along with Kubiak, Reid and maybe O'Brien.

Should definitely be one of the top 3-4 vote getters.

I think we all expect Riviera to win it. Reid is up there as well.

He's not even Top 5 this year. He would be if they actually won some of the games when players went down but his coaching decisions definitely cost them a few regular games. The ole we play the numbers and my gut and playing down to weaker competition. Then his decision to ignore the running back position cost them another playoff game. Ben looked like he would be out for the season at least 3 times, he needs most the props. Then I guess Tomlin gets some for having some back up players step up but you don't win coach of the year for good pep talks. Unfortunately that's all Tomlin brought to the team this year.

Only Tomlin and his staff knows the answer to that. Any other team in the NFL would of put him on the bench.

Sorry. I just started following this board. After reading the Steven Jackson thread and then this post, I've gotta ask: are you for real or is saying the most outlandish, ridiculous, unintelligent stuff you can think of like your schtick or something?

Like at San Diego for a prime time game with a third-string quarterback who they picked up off the street after week three?

Or like beating the #2 seed in the NFC with the second-string quarterback who looked so bad in the preseason that they had to pick the old guy off the street to surpass him on the depth chart?

    Games like those?

Losing to some of the opponents that he had like Baltimore, backup Qbs. Questionable play calling. I can't put my heart in it saying, coach of the year. Having Tomlin as our head coach is like giving the keys of an airplane to a blind man. He wins because of a talented bunch of athlete's. I see no coaching saavy in this man. Is he the worse coach in the league ? No. But he's far from coach of the year. This Steeler team improvement goes to Munchak, Butler and a several players. However, I still respect yours and other optimistic view of Tomlin.

Idk about coach of the year... He did a really nice job this year tho. We had some rough patches, but still managed to win 10 games and a road playoff game. We came really close to winning another road playoff game with a separated shoulder Ben, no AB, no Bell and Dwill. Pretty good stuff.

The Baltimore losses hurt since they are our rival and they were horrible this year. Idk about playing down to the competition tho. We did better this year about that's All of our other losses were to playoff teams, so you can't hate on that.

I generally like Tomlin's style. He's aggressive and trusts his players with everything he's got. The list of guys I'd replace him with is very very short.

He's the same guy who couldn't grasp that Denver deferred the kickoff to us.

tomlin does a nice job staying out of the way, letting his coordinators run the team.
he is a fine cheerleader. the players like him.

I've had my issues with Tomlin but I agree, he's done a very good job this year. I like the fact that he's so emotionally invested in the team. The tears in the locker room after the Denver playoff loss earned points with me. I've been a Tomlin critic at times (and will continue to be), but I've never been on the FMTI bandwagon. Of course when you have a QB like Big Ben it makes the head coaching job a little easier, but I don't want to take anything away from Tomlin. He held the team together through a lot of adversity this year. I think it was @Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace who started a thread a few days ago about this truly becoming Tomlin's team and I agree. We're all critical of Captain Cliche at times, but I think there is a method to his madness. He's building the team in his own image. They are starting to believe what he preaches (next man up, there are no moral victories, etc.) and it's paying off. I have never felt more optimistic about the next season immediately after a season ending playoff loss. I hope that optimism is not misplaced.

Yeah, that was nice but how about the coach being solely responsible for blowing the Ravens game? That loss was all on him. That doesn't happen to Coaches of the year. How many games we lose with Vick at QB when Landry Jones could have easily won? Horrible player analysis.
