Any time you take drugs, your Kidneys have to work, even OTC drugs. Take too much and you can suffer the consequences especially if you have a preset condition. Not sure if he has a case here.

Can I sue Kemo for all the dumb penalties he took when diving onto a pile 5 minutes after the whistle?

Unfortunate he has to deal with this but not sure how much of a case he has.

Based on the article, he may well have a case, or he may not.

If the Steelers/NFL knew what they were injecting with could harm his kidneys more than they let on, that'd be enough for me. And does anyone here think the NFL is above seriously damaging players for money? They certainly aren't.

    Anti-inflammatory injections?

Never heard of those before... That is like injecting yourself with Bayer... No?

How many players actually take these?

Didn't he donate one of his kidneys to his brother? So it would stand to reason that he had two functional kidneys but giving one away has strained the remaining one and revealing possible damage done by taking medication.

You've got it backwards. His brother donated a kidney to him.

    1. He should have been aware that any medication he puts into his body has the potential cause issues, potentially serious issues. He has some responsibility to educate himself about what he's taking.

    2. A doctor/medical professional has a much greater responsibility to make his patients fully aware of the benefits/risks of taking said medication. The doctor also has to be aware of any pre-existing conditions that could be affected by the medicine.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a very good case against the team. Will he win? That depends on how much money he has available because the Steelers and the league have very deep pockets and can afford the best lawyers. My guess is there will be a settlement and we'll never hear all the facts of the case

Maybe he trusted the advice from a doctor? Maybe he wasn't aware that the medication would harm his kidneys. Maybe he didn't even know what he was being shot up with. I mean, if you can't trust a doctor when it comes to medicine, who can you trust?

Yeah I get all that. But everyone knows that 95% of stuff u inject into ur body isn't good. I am sure most of it was probably pain killers or something

He will not win. I am fairly certain he was asked if he wanted it. He said yes because if his replacement looked better than him. He would be suing because he lost his job due to injury

Things have certainly changed but, I'm reminded of Walt Sweeney and his suit against the Chargers and the NFL. He was a really good lineman with knee problems. After multiple surgeries and pain meds, he got addicted to the meds. He sued the Chargers doctors for knowingly overprescribing pain meds and the NFL 'cause he felt they knew and didn't do anything about it. After years, he won and had the ruling overturned on appeal. He never did completely kick his habit. I felt bad for him because he, like so many others, left everything on the field but got hooked on the injections that allowed him to keep playing.

At least not just one doctor unless you know he is a bad ass. Even then I wouldn't without my own due diligence believe every single thing. I would get second opinion on things if serious or a little research to make sure things all jive together.

Don't the Steelers have a world-renowned brain surgeon? Now that's a guy you can trust with medical advice. If he says something is fine, you believe him.

...And didn't that guy say it's more dangerous for little kids to ride bikes than it is to play football?

Point being, smart people aren't always that smart, and for some mysterious reason, those types keep popping up in the NFL.

Nobody on this board knows what they told him and what he knew. Maybe he's full of it, I don't know. But all this blind faith in the NFL... Are you kidding me? What have they done to deserve that? Especially on the topic of withholding important medical information from players in an effort to keep them playing at the expense of their long-term health.

I think these "Oh come on he's full of it" and "Oh come on he must have known" responses are just people doing that thing they do when they complain about a woman suing McDonald's after she spilled the coffee on herself. It makes them feel better, but I don't know why. You don't know anything about the conversations between Chris and the doctors/trainers/whoever. Yes, you know some people sue frivolously, but you also know people - and especially companies - sometimes need to be sued. You also know the NFL's track history.

Oh, and then there's my favorite response to the NFL withholding critical medical information at the expense of its players: "Well if you didn't know getting hit in the head was bad for you then it's your fault." I'm sorry, but if the brakes go out on my car, I'm suing that MF'ing car company, or the mechanic, or somebody, and if you tell me it's my fault for not knowing driving is dangerous, I'm suing you for wasting everyone's air.

Maybe the part in the article where his attorney says he is suing everybody, turned some people off.
