I know Steeler fans don't want to hear this but losing to New England in the AFCCG would be much worse IMO. Fans were buying into the media hype of the Steelers being the team that could go to Foxboro and win, not me. They were hyped up because of the offense, actually the offense hasn't been good since that 6 consecutive games of scoring over 30 points ended. And now AB, DWill are injured Brady would do what he always does to the Steelers dink and dunk to a win.

I don't know if they're better off. Would have been nice to have the chance in Cheatsville. That said, I think the Pats would have embarrassed them.

Disagree. To be honest, considering the health and injuries.... I'm proud that the team made it this far and was competitive with Denver. I feel a 100% healthy steelers team is capable of being competitive with New England (it's not like we got blown out in week 1 while missing players). Not sure if they could have been competitive in New England next week or not, but I thought the same about Denver this week too.

Disagree. I'd rather have a chance at NE. With AB back, maybe Dwill, and Ben one week more healthy, we had a chance. New England is really good, but if we are even remotely healthy we also have a really good team. Idk why there is a thought that we would automatically get smacked around in Foxborough. I would've liked to know if we could take them, sadly we won't kjow

New England is very happy that we lost .. We have the most skilled weapons in the entire NFL . The Steelers showed they can run and pass even with there top guys out and against the best D in the NFL no less... The 1 thing that has me a bit on edge today was the way that Coates played ... I am not sure he shouldn't have been used more already this year... It seems this Team has a bit of a problem with position Love..

We draft more LB'S than any Team high I think and it hurts the DB group ... We stay in to many multiple TE sets and we flex them out more than we should this hurts the WR group ... If Coates could have played like that earlier in the year with AB healthy then multiple WR should have been the way to go...

Can you Imagine a AB,Bryant,Coates,Wheaton,DHB 5 WR set ? There is no way any Team in the NFL can guard that.... How man times did we even see it ?

I think we would have gone up there healthy and with purpose. We will never know if they could have beaten them but I sure would have liked our chances.

If it's guaranteed that we are going to lose and let's say we had the choice of either losing to Denver or New England in the championship game then I'd rather lose to Denver. But if were talking about would we rather lose to Denver in the divisional round so we don't have to lose to New England in the championship game well that's just silly if you ask me.

I do not understand this statement... "Better off losing". No one can predict the future... The window of opportunity with our Franchise Quarterback is getting shorter and shorter every year. I would rather take my chances winning and playing the Patriots this year in AFCCG than hoping for another shot next year. We have no idea what will happen next year.

I work with a guy who is a Pats fan. He texted me this morning saying he was happy that the Pats get to play Denver instead of the Steelers....I agree. With a healthier Ben (assuming that would be true), AB and maybe Williams, I think we would have played them tough.

If I had seen anything positive from the offense, I'd have had hope.

Instead, what we got was the same old inconsistent crap. The very first play of the game set the tone: the Steelers were going to live and die with the deep ball.

New England would have smoked this team.

There is nothing in the Steelers secondary that implies this is a really good team in the one area where Tom Brady has ALWAYS lit up the Steelers. I agree with the original poster.

The Steelers have a shot at drafting a CB with the #1 pick, and Senquez will be back next season to play the slot. Maybe bring in a better free agent CB and let William Gay go... new backfield.

    Hmmm...

    Gay
    Ross
    Senquez
    Rookie
.... I'm sure Antoine is gone.

Losing gets the Steelers a better future first round cornerback than a win over Denver would have done. Sorry. This teams defensive secondary needs players, no matter what Tomlin might say.

The difference between the 32nd and 25th picks aren't that big. Sure there may be a guy you want that isn't available, but 7 spots isn't a guarantee that said player will be better than a guy drafted 7 spots later. Losing is never good for the organization. Screw a few extra draft slots.

Also, every team has deficiencies. Ours is our secondary. We could have played just well enough defensively to let our (hopefully more healthy) offense score enough points to win the game.

The pats offense would chip and chisel our D to a fine powder ..The style of offense they run is so bland yet no D can seem to stop them ..Brady gets rid of the ball so quick that any pass rush is pointless ..

I despise the team and will root for any team thats up against them but i just don't see any team stopping that dink dink dunk offense of theirs..I friggin hate it ,its so annoying ,yet no team can really truly stop it when they have all their quick little shifty guys ..Then throw in a Gronk and its pretty much over for any D ..

They move down the field with such precision with those 6-8 yard completions the whole time ..
I do believe our Offense would be able to go score for score but in the end you just know they will have the ball with 2 minutes left down by 2 or maybe 5 ,,which ever it is ,our D just wouldn't hold up..Thats JMHO ..

I definitely agree with the general consensus here. Who cares about a slightly better draft pick? And who cares if the Patriots beat us 49-0? I am NEVER OK with losing. I'm still sad/mad about yesterday and will be that way for a while since the season is officially over. And who says we couldn't beat NE especially with AB and DWill potentially back. And Marsha could break an ankle on the first play.

Tom Brady is 6-2 against the Steelers with a 70% completion percentage and a QB rating over 100. Against certain teams the Steelers fail to get pressure (see Denver, see Patriots) and this year the Steelers have been worse in coverage than I've ever seen. Dudes have been simply out of position, not knowing who is suppose to cover who.

Sure, maybe the Steelers would have figured out how to cover tight ends by next week. Or maybe the 5 or 6 dropped passes by open Broncos receivers was a fluke. That doesn't mean I'm going to lay my hat on the Steelers doing something they haven't done even when they had much better defenses.

The 3-4/nickel package isn't what gives Brady the most problems. Especially when you can't count on the NT or 2 DEs can't generate enough pressure right up the middle to make him uncomfortable even with short drops.

I'm ok being in the minority. Yeah, I wanted a win too. It didn't happen now I'm focused on the team fixing what's broken.

Again...Corner/Safety best on the board works for me. Will Allen can't be the best we can do.

I agree we should take the best DB (corner or safety) available early in the draft.

As for why I think we would beat NE this week it's because of the improved play of our young LBs and Coach Butler. Brady was great against LeBeau, but without all the confusion and communication issues in week 1, I think Butler did a good job limiting him. And I think a healthy AB would torch Malcolm Butler.

I just really like how we matched up next week.

We've never gone through there to win a Super Bowl. Tomlin has never beat them in their house.
IMO, this was our year to do just that. They're not our kryptonite anymore. All we needed was a chance. We definitely had a better chance than the Chiefs, Texans, Bengals, & Broncos at beating them WITH BROWN. Without him, the other guys would have to play a lot better than they did yesterday.
