If he doesn't take it, then Denver gets it to start both halves. You do know that defer means Denver gets the choice at the start of the 2nd half, right? Meaning if Tomlin kicks now, then Denver will choose to receive the 2nd half kickoff. Yeah, that would be a great choice.

 

They did. They deferred their decision to the second half. That means that Steelers got to decide to go on O or D first. Of course anyone is going to take to go on O first when the other team deferred. On our decision, Denver got to decide which direction.
