That's the issue. What if he was talking trash (knowing him and his personality, he likely was) and he was in earshot of an official and Jones didn't respond and Porter was flagged. Would you still be applauding him, if he took the Steelers back out of FG range? It worked out, but it doesn't mean it was ok. No problem if he's checking on Brown, but it certainly didn't appear that he was anywhere near AB.

I don't care to indulge in what if scenarios, I'll stick to what happened. Bengal jerk lost his cool and cost his team.

Ive never seen a coached flagged for being on the field, far fetch scenario. He'd have to really be saying some magic words to draw a flag there.

Before last night had you ever seen a coach flagged for what Munchak did? Knowing Porter and what he's done, you really think he likely didn't say something that could have drawn a flag?

Im not understanding the issue here... It looked like it all started when Burfict tried to tap AB as he was going off and he wound up hitting the one Steeler medical guy? Looked like Joey was trying to diffuse the situation to me.

Who knows what Burfict said as AB walked off either. I know how Peezy is, but he was calm, cool, and collective here... I can NOT see how he was talking trash and picking a fight.

He didn't appear to be talking trash, but either way, he wasn't flagged. He didn't take the Steelers out of FG range. It was OK.

He stood right next to him and the trainers until they left the field.

Did you notice the team physician even getting scrappy? I think it was with one of their d linemen.

Munch put his hands on a player, hardly the same thing.

Obviously Porter dint say anything to draw a flag but Im glad he got a reaction out of Jones.

Benches have definitely drawn flags before.

What I don't understand is what Porter is doing in a group of Cincy players. No matter what he says, he's not diffusing the situation. Nothing was bringing the Bengals back from their self created grave, but don't even give the refs (who were likely trigger happy on the flag at that point) a chance to throw a flag on your team. The Steelers were already in FG range thanks to VB. It worked out last night, but don't expect the NFL to shine more of a spotlight on the Steelers moving forward (considering the dummies in Cincy are gone now) and the Steelers are facing a league favorite in Manning.

Not saying they are the same, but I know I can recall a coach doing that on the sidelines. And hell yes, I'm glad Jones flipped out, I just want Porter and the Steelers to understand that type of play may not always end up in your favor. Considering who they are facing next week, I would guess the NFL won't allow nearly the same latitude.

I think I saw on TV from one of the experts (maybe Marshall Faulk) the comment that the Bungles coaches didn't come on the field during the Bernard injury. This obviously proves otherwise.

He got shoved from behind into a group of them. He was walking off the field with the other Steelers staff members when it happened.

For what Munchak did. I can't remember the last time a coach did something like that.

Given this photo, I'd be interested in the video footage of Porter between this and when he was surrounded by bungles players. My guess is he did nothing wrong. Words should not be penalties.

I can do that for you, but not at this moment as I'm away from my computer. I can tell you though that in the group 'skirmish' that drew the flag on Pacman Jones, Porter is just standing there not saying a word. This is immediately after getting shoved in the back by Gilberry.

Actually, I think they just passed a new rule in the offseason that says certain words ARE able to be penalized. Especially these guys throwing around the n word. Didn't they pass that?

Porter is not Riley Cooper, so I think it's okay

Yeah but I think it was in light of the Cooper incident that caused the rule actually.

Isnt that the same clever Bengal that thought his cape cloaked him from view when he ran on the field and shoved someone?

Yeah that was beyond cheating. Just completely stupid. We may not be the smartest team in the league but good grief the bungles are a special kind of stupid.

While we are the subject of first times when had a defensive player or any player been allowed to run onto the field in his cloak and bump an opposing team member. I mean Peko is a pretty stand up guy so for him to have a brain far like that shows how little control Lewis had. Munch's penalty again should have been offsetting since he was clearly trying to prevent Nelson from getting in Todman face.

Not sure why it's important to have this conversation. AB was hit late and high.. couple of seconds passed before the hit on a " defenseless player" I would go back a few years and strap the pads on to kick Burficts ass.

Someone found the footage on YouTube. For your viewing pleasure. He didn't go into the group of Bengals he was cordoned off by them and they instigated everything from that point on.

Yeah... Bengals as a team were just losing their cool at that point...

Well, that clears it up pretty good, I would say. Unless you're a bengals fan, I guess
