Thanks for that list. Pretty mediocre talent on it.

Depending on #34, I'd say at best we bring Pead back in.

It is definitely a concern heading into the Bengals game. I like when our offense is balanced but #7 could be chucking it up 50 times.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Archer signed.

I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't it be hilarious if he were signed then carved up the Bengals on outlet passes?

Archer / Pead, the best bets. Both veterans, both know the system... and both of them were let go before Todman / Toussaint, which speaks of what our staff thinks about them.
On the other hand, it isn't really that we're picking them instead of Adrian Peterson kind of backs, the FA-RB pool is pretty lame.

Beat me to it. Lets roll with them instead of a guy that will only be marginally better but more likely to blow his assignments.

Archer knows the system. Could also take toussiant off kickoff return. Considering the options he might be the best choice.

Don't count on it. I read somewhere that he refused to sign with us for the practice squad this week.

He turned down 10 teams for the practice squad. He would come back in a heartbeat for an active roster paycheck.

Is the green font missing from the Archer posts?

Stop, he was useless, what makes anyone think he'd suddenly be effective???

was it just me or did anyone else just feel that DAW getting hurt was absolutely inevitable? Yes, Pead or Archer would be my picks. I don't think D'Angelo plays this week but hopefully comes back if they win.

Someone mentioned other backs who'd subbed in the playoffs and did well- add to that, the RBs for the Indianapolis Colts in 1995. Marshall Faulk was their best player, but he was out for the playoffs. His backups- whose names escape me at the moment- brought them within inches of the Super bowl.

I wasn't surprised that DWill got hurt because he has missed a lot of time in his career. I actually mentioned it in the game thread. I was thinking how ridiculous it is that we have to again play a division rival in the post with a new rb. It's just irritating how we can never seem to stay healthy anymore. Just bad breaks really.

Not only this, but after turning his nose at nearly a third of the league to try earning himself a spot I say fine; he can sit this one out. It's not like he was bound to the practice squad - he could have signed with another team's active roster if the offer was extended. To me, that move came off as entitled. He's now entitled to watch the playoffs from home.

Give him a week of practice with the first team if D Will can't make it. Better choice than anyone we can sign. JMHO.

JK. Is there a particular reason you feel that way? Convince me.

I agree with rewarding the players already on your roster. Pretty sure there aren't any FAs of D Will's ability out there.

Stick by your guys. They've been preparing all year in case their number was called.

He's from Michigan. Charles Woodson went to Michigan. Charles Woodson is one of the greatest corners of all time. If he can manage to go to the same school as Woodson he has to be one of the greatest running backs of all time. Make sense?

He has 17 career touches. 4 YPC average. That is no where near a large enough sample size of his ability.

Plus very rarely do the Steelers use a lead blocker. If the gap is filled Archer isn't going anywhere. A guy like that needs more blocking than a Bell who can run through arm tackles, stiff arm plus hurdle and juke.

Tomlin doesn't give new guys much of a shot.

I saw him dancing at the line a lot like Bell and Williams but the blocking wasn't there. Perform better up front and I think he can emulate those two guys he's been watching the past few weeks. The results of patience have been obvious on this team when it come to that position.
