We had all the momentum it seem like we were on a run and just like that in one game it was all taken away. it's one thing to get knocked out in the playoffs it's another to get knocked out by the Ravens JV squad

If things don't go our way and we don't get in the playoffs it's going to be a loooooonngggggg off-season and a lot of what if's . How much longer can Ben stay healthy for an entire season at his age.
They'll be a lot of uncertainty surrounding levon bell coming back from his injury

To make matters worse we will be picking in the 20s and the ravens will be getting a top 10 pick.

the Ravens completely crapped down our leg on Sunday
And will be in our heads for a long time

    Come on bills !!!

Let's go Steelers beat the Browns so we can put all this behind us

    yes,

It is very horrible, how can a team and coach with the success we have against good opponents have a 4-7 record against sub 500 teams, in our last 11 games ?
It makes no sense, and because of the patience of the Rooneys, we can be mediocre for the next decade and Tomlins job will be safe

Typically, I would have watched the replay of the game by now. I just can't bring myself to review this disaster. I almost started to about a half hour ago but then my stomach started churning. I think I'm going to save myself the stress and just delete it. No reason to ruin this horribly lousy week any more than it already has been labeled as terribly disgusting. Pessimism is at an all time high for me right now and it's just not sports either. I guess 2016 can't get here fast enough.

I don't know if this could have been our year. But that game pretty much took it away. It confirmed all of our fears about the weaknesses of this team. Fast forward 12 months, on offense we have Bell and Pouncey so maybe Ben doesn't get hit as much. On D, we have another year in Butter's system, Golson, and hopefully more talent in the secondary. Maybe Dupree will turn into a beast. Yes, next year is definitely looking up. I just wasn't expecting to be looking toward it so soon.

I deleted the game off of my DVR before it was even over. It's ridiculous for our team to be so completely unprepared. I have no other word for it. I am not even sure I will watch the Browns game on Sunday.

I don't think it will ever go away if they don't somehow slip into the dance. Especially, when we watch the mediocre playoff teams out side of NE: KC, Jets, Houston, Dalton/McCarron, Oswhatever.... Man, getting more depressed thinking of it....

It's over and now there's nothing, oh it's the end, the end of something...

    Henry Rollins

Still a pit in my stomach. Top 5 of the worst losses in Steelers history. Now a miracle is needed.

I was just thinking the same thing. I am so ticked off over that loss and I'm normally over them well before now. The Steelers had so much riding on this game and they played with apathy and lethargy. That's become Tomlin's PATHETIC MO and I'm tired of his circus act!! But congrats to him on another non-losing season. :thumbs up:

P.S. I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention that I'm tired of Ben's lack of leadership and his downright stupid play in meaningful games the last few seasons. We need to be thinking about a successor in the next couple of years. It's not Landry "no fire" Jones either.

    I'm through!!! :frustrated:

Kind of like eating bad oysters. Takes a while to process it all the way through the system and in to where it belongs.

I think the sting is lasting longer for us because it was essentially a playoff game. Those losses always linger a lot longer for me than regular season games. And you guys are right, only a win over the stains and jets loss with help it go away.

I will probably only watch the Jets bills game I'm assuming the Steelers should take care of business and beat the Browns. If they can't beat the browns they have absolutely no business being in the playoffs and Tomlin has no business coaching this team

Maybe we were just winning with smoke and mirrors all along

This is what happens when an offence is built around explosiveness and deep plays instead of consistency. Offences like ours can be shut down. Just ask Saints fans. All their powerful offences got them nowhere most years. I know Ben loves to go deep and we do have the talent to do so, but it's not a consistent way to win games. it doesn't always work. We need a strong running game, lots of short and medium routes and mix in some deep stuff to either keep the defence honest or take advantage of their aggressiveness.

    This pretty much right here.
Going into the season I didn't think that this was their year as I knew that the defense was a work in progress and that NEXT year was their year. I did expect them to make the playoffs though, just that they probably wouldn't make it past the divisional round. But I did make that assessment before Ben missed 1/4 of the season, so as a whole, it really isn't a shock that they're on the outside looking in. Regardless of last Sunday's horrible loss they're still in if they win the first Rat game at home. And if they had Ben or even a 1/4 way decent kicker, they're in right now.

And because of this, he'll be here another 5 seasons. Ben will retire, we'll suck, and then he'll get fired.

Great point. They remind me of the Bungals of 10 years ago. All offense, no defense. That being said, this is just the nature of the beast in the NFL now. It's an offense and more specifically a pass happy league and that's how you have success. Of course the double edge sword IS the fact that explosive pass happy O's can be stopped by a good single game defensive performance. And sometimes that ONE game costs you everything. The Almighty Pats had this happen to them twice versus the Giants.

Tomlin had the ideal situation in Pittsburgh. Patient ownership. A once in a generation quarterback and a GM that delivered him more than adequate talent. Had he been hired to coach the Jacksonville Jaguars or the Minnesota Vikings or...(name a dozen or so other NFL teams lacking the above ingredients), he would have long ago been relegated to the ash heap of NFL head coaching failures!

But, but, but... if you listen to some of the apologists around here, he's a Top 5 coach! That just can't happen.

And it's the patient ownership that will keep him here until it's obvious to even 3-year-olds that he needs to go.

"Every few years" ? How many more non-playoff-winning-with-a-loaded-offense-that-should-be-playoff-bound-every-year seasons should we wait?

Not saying that's the methodology the Steelers should adhere to, I'm just pointing out that Tomlin is very fortunate, especially to have a quarterback like Ben in spite of his idiotic screw ups at times. Any other quarterback I don't think Tomlin sniffs the post season. He too often gets out-coached and generally makes terrible in-game decision (clock management, etc.). I'm saying the reason he's considered a top 5 coach has less to do with him and more to do with the situation he was hired into 9 years ago.

Who would you rather have? How quick do you fire him when he doesn't produce to your standards? 2 years? 3?

The worst part for me was the opponent. Baltimore's season went down the tubes and they were decimated by injury. But they beat us twice! If I was a ratbirds fan, I'd be happy rolling into the offseason. Just sickens me, Douchbaugh and Co. took it to us this year.

Plain and simple, Harbaugh is a better coach than Mike Tomlin. He can take a scrub off the streets like Ryan Mallett and beat Tomlin who has an (almost) elite quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger.
