Yep, and next year there will be more excuses. I might have bought the injury excuse, but that went out the window when we beat 3 straight division winners to be in a position where we controlled our own destiny - only to puke it away against a Ravens team that was QB'ed by Ryan Mallett. The injuries had been overcome. As for player performance, it's the job of the coaching staff to prepare the players, put them into a position to be successful and hold them accountable when they don't perform. That's leadership, and it's about doing more than just chest bumping players after good outcomes.

Tomlin and Colbert aren't going anywhere. They both just signed extensions. Plus you know the Rooney's don't make knee jerk reactions.

If Tomlin or Colbert were unemployed there would be other teams wanting their services, ASAP.

Should have said afraid to reach in the 1st . .. He stands pat when we clearly have great CB'S a few picks ahead of ours. I know a lot will say how do you know they had a partner to trade up with. Well you can't know for sure , but when other Teams trade all up and down in the early rounds I am sure we could to if we tried...

Tomlin and Colbert aren't going anywhere. But talented team? Are you just talking about the Offense? Because there is not much talent on Defense...or of the talent sure took a major step down.

Your right, we only had to trade up 1 spot to get Revis when he was drafted, but no, we had to draft our traditional line backer in the 1st round as usual......

I highly doubt Tomlin gets a HC job anywhere. Colbert would be work immediately. Tomlin would be offered a coordinator job at best.

Hed be unemployed for about 5 seconds. Hes regarded as a top 5 coach. You dont have to agree with that but he's regarded much more highly then you think.

I remember here in Sandy Eggo how the fans and media were out of their minds after losing the afccg blaming "Marty ball". I, as an outsider to their pain, explained they shouldn't be that upset -they made it really deep. But they fired Marty...look at the hot mess now.

I don't see any big changes coming.

Didn't the Jets trade up to jump ahead of us to pick Revis? Hard to predict that and not too many teams trade up 1 spot to get their guy unless it's a QB.

With as much trading as we do in the later rounds I'm convinced that we attempt to trade up in the 1st at times, it's just that deals aren't there to be made.

Jimmy Haslem would fire Mike Pettine in 4.4 seconds and have Mike Tomlin hired as new coach of the Browns.

    Also see:
    Titans
    Dolphins
    Colts
    Lions
    49ers
    Saints

That would more than likely hire him. Once they find replacement coaches.

And the truth is we'd miss Colbert, but not Tomlin.

So was Jeff Fisher when he became unemployed. That's worked out awesomely in St Louis. Lovie Smith. Plenty of others.

By who? Because of his great playoff record the past 5 years with a loaded offense and a franchise QB? Or because he won a SB after taking over Cowher's staff and team? Tomlin is Barry Switzer at best. I'd love to hear your testimony from all the GM's and owners out there that you've talked to who think Tomlin is a great HC.

We do live in an age of internet you know, be amazed the things you can find out.

But hey, maybe we'll find out someday, see whos right and who is wrong, then I can look back at this and laugh.

I might be wrong though, might be 6 seconds.

Super, doesnt change the fact that he'd have another job as a HC in no time.

I agree that Tomlin would have a new job quick. However, I wouldn't expect any better results than what Fisher has given the Rams. At this point, what faith I had in Tomlin is pretty much dead. I think he's mediocre.

The abysmal record against sub .500 teams really can't be ignored anymore. I know Rooneys wont let him go but if they get eliminated next week (likely) then Rooneys should call him into the office the next morning and tell him either you improve a lot against those teams or the extension you just got is your last.

I know Foster is right, players execute but Tomlin is the HC, fix the problem.

You don't know what you're talking about most HC let their OC make the calls, the HC gets involved on certain plays. No big time OC wants to work for a HC who always meddle in the play calling.

They don't have the talent on defense, as evidenced by losing to Ryan Mallet and the Ravens.

It goes way beyond the record against losing teams. It's the questionable game management, and horrid clock management. It's waiting too long to take any actions to deal with inadequate personnel - like why is Blake STILL starting, and why did we enter the playoffs last year having to scramble to get a RB even though our backup was cut a few weeks before Bell got injured? It's wondering why we seemingly never game plan to take advantage of opponents' weaknesses, and instead just do what we do? There's really too much to list.

Yeah, the same defensive talent that held the Bengals to 6 for 3 1/2 quarters, and shut the Cards and Broncos down completely in the second half. It's not a good defense, but there's plenty of talent to blow the Ravens and Ryan Mallett off the field - except that someone seemingly forgot to tell them it was Sunday and not Friday's walk through practice.
