Why would the Pats throw the game?

    1. I don't believe Brady has ever lost to the Steelers in Foxboro. I think the Steelers beat Cassel there.
    2. The Jets have beaten the Pats in Foxboro, both in the regular season and in the playoffs.
    3. The Pats had no control over whether the Steelers made the playoffs or not, since the Steelers controlled their own playoff fate. Had the Steelers not lost, the Pats losing today would have no effect on the Steelers.
    4. The Pats have a bye, so unless the Steelers win a playoff game (once again something the Pats don't control) for the first time in 5 years, the Pats won't face them.

Anyone thinking the Pats threw the game is simply reaching for something that isn't there.

I think we are only a safety and a cornerback away from a very good team. Give us those 2 playing tight and the pass rush will get better. Then we have a good team.

Draft cornerbacks and safeties with all picks next draft. Throw in a couple of older vets who have been released as cap casualties and we could be good.

Unless of course we keep playing Blake?

It's not about "fear" It's about being able to choose your potential playoff opponent right there. They only beat a Bell and Bryant-less Steelers earlier in the year by 7. Offense is 10x better with Bryant.

We are talking about a group that has got caught cheating countless times and people are acting like they are above throwing games :lollmao:

But they can't choose their opponent if they get the 1st round bye. Also, losing to the Jets has no impact on the Steelers if the Steelers beat the Ravens and Browns.

The final score was 7, but the Pats led by 14 and gave up a meaningless TD on the game's last play.

Yeah, I've noticed quite a few around here that seem to forget we were getting beaten 28-14 until :07 to go in the game. Not like it was really close or anything - at one point it was 21-3.

I think maybe the Jets players /coaches want it more than the Steelers. How else
could you explain not playing with urgency when a playoff position is on the line?
    Inexcusable to come out flat.

Exactly. The biggest thing that makes the Jets better is they actually have DB'S who should start in the NFL . I knew Mallet would pick this D apart . If we cut every DB we had I could only see 2 of them landing starting jobs in the NFL . If the Jets did the same all of them would get gigs ....

The Chokers will get rid of Eric Weddle after the season. He's not worth what he's getting paid but, he's better than what we've got.

Also, it's not even just choosing to kick. The Patriots wasted timeouts at the end of the game and took knees instead of trying to get into fg range. So they didn't play for the fg then 2 minutes later decided let the defense get a stop and play for a fg? A lot of Boston beat writers are even saying they threw the game. But believe what you want.

Why did the Pats go for a two 4th downs in the last 3 minutes and convert? Why didn't the Pats just mail it in after being down 17-3?

The Pats didn't tank the game, despite what Steeler fans want to believe.

ESPN radio is also saying they think he threw the game on purpose. I really hope the Patriots had more on their minds than what the Steelers were doing but I could be wrong.

Like I said, makes no sense. Now the Pats have to win next week and play their regulars. You think they want to do that? What if they lose Brady or Gronk next week because they didn't win yesterday. Don't think it could happen. Remember when they lost Welker on the last day (in Miami I believe no less) and it cost them in the playoffs.

The Pats losing alone had no effect on the Steelers if the Steelers win. It's not like the Steelers needed help from the Pats going into the day.

If the Pats were throwing the game, they would haven't gone for it on 4th down (and coverted) twice in the last 3 minutes.

Yes. That's why they purposely kept the game close. If you read the article above you will see how. You realize they have technology, right? They got word the Steelers lost and threw it.

It wasn't Miami - it was in Houston at the end of the 2009 season. The Pats lost Welker, then were crushed in their first playoff game at home without him.

You're right they want to keep a team out of the playoffs that they own (especially in Foxboro) for teams that have beaten them (Jets, Denver, Chiefs) in the past 2 years.
