OK fair enough0.... But it is a coaches job to prepare the players to play, and to correct what is not wrking with the team.. and he just isnt getting in done,... wasnt he supposed to be a great DB coach at one time...?? we were told that Tomlin would have more of a say so in what the D did this year, not really impressed if has more input on dfense

I will give you that. but he didn't force two passes that were picked and he didn't let a big slow full back out run our fastest backer in coverage. the secondary is horrible. I will admit. I thought cockrell would be better. boykin hates contact. I thought that the 2 draft picks would be better. golden got hurt I understand but I thought grant would compete for a job.

I haven't given up hope for Grant. I really liked him coming out. I think he may just need more time. Keenan Lewis didn't shine until his third camp.

I was! I was excited as anyone that they managed to come back and win, but the idiotic refusal to change your player scheme up until you've been torched is just mind-boggling!

If we stuck him in there and said just lock your guy up man to man that's true, but if we ask him to play zone and he doesn't know his assignments it would be an uncovered Gronk all over again.

I think he's a future boundary corner for us and Golson is a future slot corner. At least I hope so :smiley1:

We need an outside pass rusher and a safety.

I understand but we CAN'T continue with this secondary going into next year. With Golson in the fold and another talented Corner/Safety very well can turn things around. Not without some growing pains at first, but nonetheless getting better.

I agree 100%. First round choice should be best DB available (safety or corner). I am just afraid given our recent history that it will be another LB that can't get to the QB.

BPA at CB/S, they need a playmaker in the secondary in the worst way.

With the 20th pick in the NFL draft the Pittsburgh Steelers will take a nap because they traded that draft pick for a cold pizza and some slightly used napkins.

Problem is that even with Lake and Woodson back there the pass defense sucked when they went zone time to time.

This team needs to be able to man up and bring the pressure. In man they make the QB actually have to wait and not just throw to the hole in the zone. It's proving out this year that mediocre QB's can carve this defense up in zone!

That's not even debatable at this point!

No-name QB's are having field days on this defense! Offenses that haven't been productive for months are breaking their funk against this defense! The pressure packages sent against the Ravens were a joke today!

The same way he gets a pat on the back and all the credit when they do tackle and play with emotions and win games.

I would put olb, corner, and ilb(Timmons replacement) above de. The need for an ilb depends on what happens with Timmons as well(extended, cut, or allowed to walk in 2017). We are pretty much set at starting de with heyward and tuitt, but could use depth. There's no way they should or would spend a first round pick on depth.

The biggest need for the last three years has been the secondary. If they drafted nothing but DBs that would be fine. The only exception is a NT who they really, really like. This stupidity of having no CBs is going to cost us yet another season.

What should we do ? Give up next years #1 and go get Jalen Ramsey CB from Florida State . We will have to trade with a top 5 Team . He will be a Franchise CB and we need 1 as bad as anybody ...What we will do ? Stay put and say the OLB was the BPA again...

They let Will Allen back in after injury when Golden was playing better and add in the season long force feeding of Blake into the lineup. Do you actually think they know what they have in Grant or any other DB prospect? The evaluation of talent for these positions (CB, S) is most certainly skewed.

Yup. I think it'll be a safety because like in past years no CB will fall to us.
