No matter what this guy does some of y'all fans will NEVER give him credit except during a loss. The man could take this team to the Super Bowl and most of y'all would still like to see him ran out of town for what ever reason, and Bill C was nothing better. Yeah, he showed some emotion on the side-line but other than that, he did nothing more that what Coach Tomlin has already accomplished. SMH.........

Oh the used to want Cowher fired too. I remember the years 1998-2000 all too well.
It's the NFL. Look at the 7-9 panthers from last year. 14-0 this year.
I don't think that Ron Rivera was doing much different than last year.

when it's all said and done, Coach Tomlin's accomplishments will far exceed Bill's. This team is close to something really special. This is the best offense the franchise has ever seen. The front 7 has some gems. The secondary is the weak link , sadly our 2nd round CB was injured.. however i think we can now shift focus solely (or dang near) on the secondary in the upcoming FA period and draft. KC and Tomlin have done a great job, as well as coach Munchak and Haley. Butler has us getting pressure again. Once the secondary is addressed this off season I believe we can dominate the division and the league until Ben retires.

To be fair, it seems like the same number of people wanted Cowher and his "Marty-ball" fired too. Some people look at Tomlin and see a coach that looks lost and disinterested on the sidelines. I see a coach who's probably trying to avoid becoming a GIF on someone's facebook page!

Let's see how the balance of the season plays out before heaping too much praise on Tomlin. Fact: we have not won a playoff game since 2010, despite having an elite franchise QB. We've also had a number of very "bad" losses in recent years that are really tough to explain (see for example the Tampa loss last year). Those kinds of games can really haunt a team. I also think it's difficult to dispute that he has had some questionable coaching decisions that have hurt our chances. I personally think that he gaffed away the Ravens game, and is partly to blame for us being in a must win situation right now. Let's see how we do against the two clearly inferior opponents that we need to beat to even be in the post season. If we gaffe away the game this week, I may not be feeling so good about our coach.

I guess the sum of what I'm saying is that I need to see some real results before I say that MT is 100% awesome. It's been a long time since we've see real results in the form of post season wins. That's ultimately the measuring stick for me.

Umm Tomlin go to the Super bowl we will see.

Tomlin has missed the playoffs or lost in the first round 6/8 seasons.

Why does he get a pass for that performance with a HOF QB?

He gets a 5 million dollar salary to walk in his shoes, I think a walk in his shoes for that kind of money shouldn't be too difficult for anyone with a coaching background.....

Steelers defense aged, that was the problem with some playoff performances, imo. I mean Tebow hit us with a game winner in the playoffs. Bill's guys ran into father time. Now we are reloading with young talent and is on the upswing. Just gotta square away the CBs

We had the same "bad losses" under cowher. The first Jaguars game comes to mind. Yes, we have a franchise quarterback; however, it takes a complete team. In case you've forgotten we've almost completely rebuilt the offense and are working on a total rebuild of the defense. Now some say you shouldn't have to rebuild when you have a franchise qb, but that's bs. Players age, leave via free agency etc. Tomlin is not without his warts, but we are lucky to have him.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that BR was a Rooney pick, not a cowher pick. So if he had gotten his way the odds are good we would not have SB wins number 5 and 6.

Just double checked cowher and donahoe(?) wanted ot Shane Andrews, but Rooney pushed them on BR

I agree, and I think if Ben has five more years then we have at least one Superbowl; we are loaded everywhere but the secondary. We could always use a replacement TE for the future, and maybe could use a DT, but other than that... All eyes should be on the secondary.

Side note: I am not sure about the development of Dupree and Jones, so OLB in the third round wouldn't offend me

Dupree Shows promise, Jones has peaked. In my honest opinion Jones is average at best, and that's being nice. Drafting a replacement for Jones would be a smart idea , you could a player of his skill or better in the 5th, 6th, or 7th. (I forget what picks we have given up for scobee and Boykin, so we gotta make these picks wisely.)

Jones is actually an above average run defender with a high motor. At this point, he'll never be a 9+ sack guy, but he is serviceable. Bud Dupree I don't sense a huge development. The pass rush moves just aren't there right now and he isn't a multi-dimensional LB at the moment. I fear two of his sacks were just him unblocked and another was chasing down Tom Brady for a -0.3 yard loss. But hey, hell of an athlete and the locker room loves him so I will hold out hope. He is a rookie after all.

It's hard to tell which is more silly, the guyswho starts a thread bashing Tomlin after a loss, or the guy who starts a thread, bashing the basher, after a win.

I will say, I don't like having a head coach who pounds his chest and points his finger into the camera after the D gets an interception. Leave that **** for the players, not the head coach.

Ya, Dupree certainly has a long way to go, but you're right he is just a rookie. I just don't think Jones is worth the hit of that 8 milly 5th year option.(think that's what it is) I think we can find a guy in FA or the draft that can produce on par with him for a lot less. (certainly there is a work around or something to keep him for less, like not sign him , let him test the waters, then resign?)

I don't know... one of the things that I think goes in Tomlin's favor is that players relate to him. If he celebrates their success with them on the sidelines a little bit, I'm not really troubled if that helps them be motivated.

Not sure about the workaround, but agreed, Jones isn't worth 8 mill at this stage in his career. Now, if he routinely ran into punt returners calling for a fair catch he may have a spot in Shamarko's role, but I fear he would allow the receiver to make the fair catch.

We get mad at Tomlin just like we would any coach. Especially over his time management and his decision making of using gut or numbers. I think he's a great players coach, the players enjoy playing for him and that's probably the most important thing. Every time I get mad I think is there another coach out there I rather have and I can never think of one. The one thing that frustrates me the most is... He was a DB coach with the Vikings before coming to the Steelers and has done nothing to improve the secondary. He can't even convince them to draft a corner in the 1st. That mixed with his horrible time management makes me wonder what is he really doing/coaching? That's my only question about him.

Wow - so eloquently stated. A lot of folks around here want to ignore those facts. Regular season doesn't mean much if you continually fall on your face in the playoffs - year after year after year (if you even make it).
