And it wears the number 83. I know we've had Heath Miller appreciation threads on here before, but can you really have too many? I thought this article was too good not to share.

Can somebody please find that Ponce de Leon dude to find out where the fountain of youth is so we can keep Heath for the next 50 years?

The guy is under appreciated by non Steeler fans who only know players by their fantasy football value.

He is a true all-time Steeler, no doubt about it.

Quite possibly greatest Steeler TE of all time.

Since the HOF seems to be all about the stat line, probably slim. He deserves it though. He could have put up tremendous stats as a pass catching TE for the Steelers but Heath is a very unselfish player who has often been asked to be an additional offensive lineman to help protect Ben and provide run support to compensate for an inadequate offensive line. He deserves to be in the HOF as arguably the best all-around TE in history.

I agree - as you say, the problem is, he's broadly contemporary with the likes of Gonzalez or Gates, and latterly Gronkowski - who are used far more as receivers, so have the stats to back up their claims, whilst Heath is a complete TE, and as a result doesn't 'stand out' in the same way to the wider NFL audience.

The problem is the media bases the true value of a tight end on how many passes and TDs they catch using tony gonzalez and jimmy graham as a template instead of the value of a TE for blocking in the trenches, Heaths value as a blocker never gets appreciated when they discuss great tight ends.........

Considering how long it took Bettis to get there and L.C. still isn't in, I'd say slim to none and slim just left town. It's a shame, really. Great player.

I agree Heath won't get into the HOF but I think he deserves it given everything he does for the team. Stats while very important for the selection shouldn't be the only factor. How does Aaron Smith obtain stats in his position? He is in my opinion one of the best ever to play. His job was to stop the run dominate the line and open holes, sacks were secondary for him.
