The Steelers offensive line is better with Cody Wallace and Alejandro Villanueva than it is with Maurkice Pouncey and Kelvin Beachum!

    Go!!

Honestly, I think Foster is playing better and that is the difference

AV is a yes. Pouncey is a no for me.

I guess we can't really argue that.. Very hard to improve upon the performance of the Oline as it stands now

Not to mention it took til this game for Gilbert to give up his first sack of the season. Pretty impressive.

I'm not about to say Wallace is better than Pouncey, but I'd rather have Wallace as our starter and spend Pouncey's salary on a better corner or safety (or on re-signing DeCastro). I just don't think we're getting value out of that contract. AV is looking better and better every week. He still has some learning ahead of him, but he has a natural LT physique and physical ability. Whereas Beach is already getting the most he can out of limited physical ability, AV has plenty of remaining upside. He's a keeper, to be sure.

Actually - quite academic - all that really matters is scoreboard - after all an obvious wise man once said - "next man up!" Only position where the next man up isn't so manly is QB. All other positions are covered.

Al is really surprising me with how well he is playing, he is so imposing ... if he gets two hands on a guy he pretty much consumes them.

I'm really frustrated about Pouncey. Its not his fault, but all the big time games we have played since he has been here, when we have needed him most, he hasn't been on the field.

I read a funny story about Villanueva. He was a rugbly player when he got recruited to play football at SHAPE High School, an academy run by the U.S. Department of Defense in Casteau, Belgium. The only thing he knew was that the coach told everyone, "Play to the whistle" so when the other team went into the victory formation he just plowed on through, drilled the QB and got ejected from the game.

AV's play might have made Beachum expendable in the offseason. Didn't know what to expect from him, but he's done great.

    AV-Foster-Pouncey-DD-Gilbert

That looks pretty awesome going forward.

Ya I'm with some of you guys when you say Pouncey might be expendable here soon if he can't stay healthy. We really don't miss him at all so far this season. How many games have we actually sat here and stated boy if this offensive line had Pouncey playing they would have been much better today or would have won. We haven't even come remotely close to saying that. Ben is barely getting sacked in any of these games which really shows you how well this o line is playing.

I have been watching this pretty close and if you can go back and just watch Wallace you will see what I am saying. Now what I am about to say I want noted I am not dumping on Wallace, he has done a very good job.....for a back up. The one thing I have noticed is how Wallace gets stood up and over powered/pushed back, when pressure is on Ben a lot of the times from what I have seen it comes from up the middle. I would not want to see MP gone however it is a nice option/fall back to have a guy like Wallace.

Now as far as AV goes I am on board here, this guy flat out has been great. What a nice problem to have with AV and Beachum, I can remember having Adams and Gilbert and they were like turn styles out there. This line has come a long way both starters and back ups, nice job Mr. Munchak!!!!!

I would say you're 50% correct. We are better with AV or beech, but not Wallace over Pouncey. It wouldn't surprise me if beech's days as a steelers are done. Please for the love of god don't suggest we move him inside to guard. We tried that already and it was an absolute failure.

They are not going to throw big dollars at Beachum. Bell, DeCastro and Brown are coming up. Villanueva has been solid and can only get better. And doesn't break the bank.

Pouncey is signed until 2019. His dead money hit this year is 11 mill. Yikes. They will not part with him. To much dead money. Unless he gets injured again. Here is a breakdown of his contract:

    Ahhh.....No.

I like AV and his upside over Beachum..... but Beachum has outplayed AV...... Im willing to bet AV has given up more QB pressures, hits, sacks this yr than Beachum did all of last year. Going forward AV is the Man @ LT. Beachum is UFA and will get a higher offer elsewhere, AV is getting better ,( thanks Munchak) every game. Id love to keep Beachum, @ LG he would be a probowler.

Wallace????? He's adequate but he's no Pouncey. He's also the most penalized OL, not as stoudt vs NT....etc.

The reason our OL is playing better is Munchak 1st.....Gilbert losing weight and improvement..... Fosters and DD's improvement and lets not forget the whipping boy Haley's offense...... Ben executing that offense.

We can win with AV and Wallace, but I want pouncey back......Healthy.... and even Beachum as our swing OT/OG.

I think the LT spot is set he is our Franchise LT... As far as Center goes I just don't value the position that much in Today's NFL ..If you have good Guard play then you can make do with a game manager at center...Wallace is good enough to do that so stick with him ..Either move Pouncey to Guard or trade him away ...

i'm not so sure that move inside would be such a failure strummer. that was before beachum got stronger and had alot of valuable playing time under his belt. it was also before munchak has had alot more time with these guys, which has paid huge dividends so far. i know i wouldn't be opposed to beachum making that move inside and it also keeps us a better alternative at LT if AV were to go down. just my two cents on that scenario.

I can't tell if it's the different rotation of players or HOF o-line coaching. I'm inclined to believe it's the coaching. He's getting a lot of players that never played this good and 2nd and 3rd strings. Imagine if our dbs could do that. I think we need a shake up at db coaching.

Wallace may not be as good as Pouncey.. However, I think he makes Pouncey expendable if the money saved would go towards upgrading the CB position. The drop-off in production from Pouncey to Wallace is nowhere near as steep as the drop-off from a pretty good FA CB, and what we currently have. But, that's only the case if the money is used wisely.

PA system: Dr. Wallace, DR. WALLACE! Please report to the 7 yard line, we have a quarterback in distress. Do not examine his prostrate please, it's a thumb.
I know I know, that stuff goes through my mind and has to come out. I'm sorry!
