Collingworth

I am thinking he has turned the corner and likes the steelers more than we think

 

ya I was expecting to see him wearing a bumble bee throwback jersey in the booth

He is WAY better than Phil Simms. It actually sounds like simms has never even seen the game before, when he talks.

 

I've never had the hatred for Collinsworth that same have had.

He was doing nothing but singing the praises last night, but how can't you win a team stomps someone 45-10.

 

Can not stand Simms! I'll take Collinsworth any day over that bum.

 

I think Collinsworth is arguably the best out there, him and Gruden. They both revel in the old school-style of football and hate the ticky-tacky flags that get thrown all the time.

 

I've always thought that Collinsworth had good things to say about Ben and the Steelers in general, in spite of the fact that everyone claims he hates the Steelers.

Phill Simms, on the other hand........

 

He is still a douche.

Yeah, he's a db - but all personal traits aside, he tells it like it is. And I think that rubs a lot of b&g goggle wearers the wrong way. I have no problem with him.

 

Never hated Collingsworth. I actually never heard him put the Steelers down

 

I have nothing against Collinsworth. He's usually very positive about the Steelers... and when he's negative or critical of the Steelers... I think it's more envy and the fact that he's a former Bengal. Simms and Nance are the ones who get on my damn nerves... with all of their Patriot/Brady/Belichick ball-washing.

The ESPN crew...Gruden and Tirico are usually pro-Steelers. Likewise with Aikman and Buck on Fox.

 

I wonder if Simms is a dick with every team (and every day life). I think the Denver fans started a petition a few years back to try to get him out of any Denver broadcasts.

 

Fans always think announcers hates their teams, Collingsworth is one of the best color analysts.

Yeah, I also never got the Collingsworth hate. Him and Micheals are probably my favorite announce team to listen to, with a close second being Harlon and Gannon. The worst for me is Boomer Esiason. I'm soo glad he's only on the pregame. He may be an even bigger homer than Cowher is.

 

My favorite play-by-play is mute and the game-day threads.

 

The only thing that bothered me yesterday about him is that he was singing the Colt's praises for a while in the first half and how the O-line despite injury was doing a great job in the last few weeks. Then he flips it on it's head in the second half and said the cause for the colts troubles is due to the constant revolving door on the O-line. You can't have it both ways. He could have given credit to our front 7 but chose to focus on Indy's O-line.

 

I have no problem with Collingsworth either. Fouts and Simms otoh should go to mime school.

 

I don't much like him because he's talked crap on the Steelers before. Last night he was fine, but we didn't give him too much bad to say. I just always got the impression that he didn't like us. Maybe is because he was a Bengal.
I mentioned this on the gameday thread, but things move very fast there. With the way his hair looks, along with how thin he is (especially in the face), & how tall he is, doesn't Chris kinda look like Gumby??
And with Al being shorter, & having a orange-ish tint to his skin, doesn't he remind you of Pokey? Or is it just me?
I hope some of you are old enough to know who Gumby & Pokey are. (I really have no idea when it went off the air.)

 

That is true. Collinsworth HATED the Steelers. H-A-T-E-D! He always talked crap about them in his early days as an analyst. It annoyed me to no end, but I always chalked it up to him being a Bengal and his wounds still being fresh.

He has changed over the past few years, however, and seems to be more impartial in his analysis. I will give credit where credit is due and say that he now does a decent job where the Steelers are concerned.

I still don't like him, though, partly because he was a Bengal and partly because his voice, to me, is like fingernails on a chalkboard. It just grates on my nerves.
