"Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL has removed referee Pete Morelli’s crew from the Colts-Steelers game to be played on Sunday night. Morelli’s crew has been reassigned to another game."

I will say the officiating this season has been VERY suspect this season. It seems in every game when the Steelers start to gain momentum, the flags start flying or blatant penalties against the Steelers are not called.

As a Steelers fan I'm glad, but is this supposed to be a punishment? "You've been reassigned to an earlier game". That'll teach 'em.

Especially one with the "Annointed One" at QB. Miss a "roughing the passer" penalty with Brady back there and they might be executed.

So these are the clowns that botched our game Sunday? Hope the crew they replace them with can get things right.

Yeah, when I read this earlier this week on Deadspin this had me scratching my head. So the punishment is just getting them off a national game so not as many people will realize their screw-ups? Don't the two teams that they will officiate deserve competent officials too? Unless it's the Eagles-Pats game. Those two teams can have crappy officiating and I'm okay with it.

This. Every week, one of the crews is making a costly wrong call.

I agree. Look, it's not an easy job - trying to call a game of inches at full speed while millions at home have the luxury of mulitple replays at numerous angles to second-guess just about every decision isn't glorious - but the NFL has an obligation to get things better than they currently are. Make refs FT, quit coming up with ridiculous standards for things like a catch that happen in the blink of an eye, etc.

Officiating has been horrible league wide this year. Did anyone hear the 49ers player Boone after that game last week. Hilarious.

A lot of national media (Mike & Mike, Tirico on MNF to name a few) have been calling for changes. The PI calls are the worst. Please change it to a 15 yarder. DBs really do not have a fair chance at the ball anymore.

I couldn't agree more! PI is a complete joke that has insured QB's and Offenses for way too long. Roger wanted points on the board and this was one way to tighten the grip on that stat. I hate that a DB just barely touches a WR and it turns into a game changing 40+ yard first down. Brown however gets Shermanized and it's an INT.

Hate that idea. Any time a DB knows he is beat he will just mug the DB knowing its only 15 yards.

Ever since the Colts/Steelers playoff debacle leading to XL, I thought it was a joke Morelli still had a job. Nice he won't get the chance to officiate the rematch 10 years later.....

I think they were given the Pats game because it's the easiest officiating assignment in the NFL. If in doubt, call it in favor of the Pats. See? Easy.
