No its not. Thats overly politically correct an inaccurate. Lynch mobs has a broad meaning and doesn't pertain solely to what you are implying.

While I agree that our secondary is beyond suspect, I don't believe this is the reason for one second. He is a poor tactical coach. He's constantly taking pts off the board for US by those remarkable head-scratchers that he keeps making each week.

He didn't see the DB underneath, thought he had an easy lob to the receiver. That, and he was throwing back across the field.

I seem to recall that Tomlin's teams usually lose after a bye week. At least this time he lost to a quality team.

Tomlin was 6-2 after the bye before today's game.

Yeah Tomlin basically repeated the trick play failure against the Pats. I like that he is more aggressive now in his calls (probably some influence from Haley who went for it on 4th more than any other HC while he was in KC) but trying to outsmart the other team isn't working.

Should keep it simple and execute. 4th and 2 don't do a trick play where the only receiving option is your LT. Should have Ben throwing it to Miller, Williams or Bryant as they were the best match ups.

Need to stick with Ben. He must get pissed when he has to watch stupid gadget plays from the sidelines.

Ben didn't even like the wildcat stuff when Haley started trying to incorporate some of that. I heard that he had an animated discussion with Tomlin on the sidelines today. I don't know if it was much ado about nothing. I'm sure it probably was.

That fake was just all kinds of wrong. First, it came after the quarter break - which gave the Seahawks time to look over our personnel and realize what we were doing. And you hit the nail on the head - why put in Jones to make that play? Why didn't they execute before the end of the quarter instead of giving the defense time to adjust? Poor, poor decision making.

It's one thing to be aggressive and outsmart the opponent - it's another (and quite shameful) to outsmart yourself, time after time.

The other thing to do would have been move AB around so he wouldn't be covered by Sherman. Wheaton tore it up today (despite the no catch review) on the left side.

I am surprised that wasn't more of the gameplan. They could have put Nix across from Sherman all game haha.

Sherman gets away with so much holding! He literally touched and leaned on AB for the entirety of a go route but no call etc.

Can't fault Tomlin for being a competitor, his defense just never showed up. Nearly all of Wilson's TD had wide reciever so wide open like the Pacific Ocean. Our DBs are so awfully worthless, they don't even compete at the line of scrimmage. They're beat even before snaps & they don't play zones well. Now on the other hand, they should learn from guys like Richard Sherman who held one of the best in check...

You mean learn how to hold like Richard Sherman?!?!

If Sherman did not get away with holding on EVERY play because he does it EVERY play... he would be out of the league.

Throwing go routes against Sherman DOES NOT WORK. He holds for the whole route.

Go watch the replay of his pick. He had both hands on each of Brown's shoulder pads when Brown "slipped." It is a disgrace.

If the Steelers would have focused ONLY on quick cuts at the 8-15 yard range Brown would have destroyed Sherman. Instead they played right into Sherman's hands by using the parts of AB's route tree which did not use quick cuts.

Someone made this same point BEFORE the game that AB is a high cadence runner. Apparently he is smarter than the coaching staff.

Having Brown run in a straight line where he is held from 0-5 yards then at the 15 yard mark etc. was unspeakably stupid.

I don't know that we should have focused on AB at all if he was well-covered by Sherman (he was). We have so many weapons that we have the luxury of not having to rely on AB to win games for us. Yesterday was the perfect example - Wheaton had a career day. Other times, when he's actually catching the ball, Bryant does. It was a good game plan, just poorly executed at times. Then add in the boneheaded decisions by MT and you get what we saw yesterday.

Nah, sorry. I fault Tomlin. A lot. He's continually taking points off the board for our team with suspect decisions, and yesterday was just another in a long line of failures from the top dog.

Our D - notably our lack of wrapping up tackles and the porous secondary - should shoulder a lot of what happened yesterday along with MT getting the other major chunk of blame. There were mental lapses and execution errors to go around, though, so don't think I'm letting anyone else off the hook, either. We should have easily won this one.

Mac, This would be Art II not going to get much higher than MT, who
I believe weilds more power than Kevin Colbert. You are going to have
to stick up for your old buddy MT here.

totally agree with you on this.. OMG. They have missed what one two point conversion this year? Maybe use that strategy to get into the end zone and score points

What the **** were you thinking when you put Landry Jones out there? Did he really think that Carroll is that stupid? Did they think that Landry was going to punt? STUPID. Just plain and simply STUPID! This loss could cost them a shot at the post season but with that secondary will it matter?

That's true Blast that was the worst play call in Sports History. That being said no one was fooled and made Tomlin look like a buffoon. And was the beginning of costing them the game. Take the points!

It seems like every week we are talking about examples of Tomlin's incompetence. Whether it's clock management or insanely stupid plays or insanely stupid game plans...it seems to show up often. MT is not helping us win games. I think his own issues as a coach show up on game day with our players. We are the team that does not pay attention to details. We are often confused and sloppy on offense AND defense. Mistakes mistakes mistakes. At some point you have to point the finger at the HC. This is going to be 5 years with out winning a playoff game. How on earth is that acceptable with the talent we have? This team has taken on Tomlin's personality...sloppy, unprepared, and lacking focus. I don't know how anyone can defend this guy unless you are from the camp that coaches don't matter...it's a players sport. In which case I'd say you were 100% wrong. Good coaches win. Good coaches with good QB's win a lot. But not this team. We consistently get out coached. We often lose to teams that have no business beating us. After most games we're left scratching our head WTF did we do this or that?

Expect more of the same this season. This is what we did after our bye week. WR's and DB's out of position and running wrong routes. Insanely stupid trick plays. .500 ball the rest of the way. We'll finish 9-7 if we're lucky. More likely another 8-8 season. Imagine if Tomlin had a bad or even average QB.

For reasons that are hard to put into words (but I'll try my best), I actually agree with the FG call in the 4th. I actually said straight away when it was 4th down 'kick the thing', as I don;t think we'd have scored (gut instinct)

I reckon Tomlin's thought process was that:
1 - If they had stopped us on 4th down, they got the ball on their two yard line with around 3:30 remaining.
2 - If we managed to stop them, depending on Tomlin's use of timeouts (which he's been terrible on this year), we may have gotten the ball back with about 2:30 left.
3 - We'd then have to get a TD to win it (which was possible, but no certainty)

He was essentially willing to give Seattle the ball (turnover or kickoff), but he'd rather do that whilst down two points than down five.
