I wonder how bad it is. I wonder if the movie about concussions and Webster are realizing some influence or that he is now a father and husband has him being cautious. Never heard of a football player self reporting. Get well soon Big Ben.

And there were some in the gameday thread saying we were quitting when Landry Jones came in the game.

I thought Ben got dinged on that sack. He finished the drive though

I saw this while ago. For Ben to report an injury himself makes me think it must be pretty bad. One of the reporters on Cooler Talk said Bennett absolutely "launched" on that play and straight up called it a "cheap shot". He said you couldn't see it on tv but that it was totally intentional.

That was a brutal helmet to helmet when Ben was being forced into Bennett from behind.

    Should be a fine forthcoming.

I think when Tomlin got asked about it in his presser he said that he didn't realize anything was wrong with Ben and it was "going on behind him" or something. From what I could gather the reporter must have asked him if he got upset that Ben wasn't able to finish or something like that. I couldn't hear because it was on the radio but Tomlin seemed miffed at the question he was asked about it.

It might have been intentional because he clearly led with the crown of his helmet. Only Bennett knows until he opens his big mouth on the subject which he likely will after being fined. Tough to say he launched though when he was nearly upright when he hit Ben. The impact was huge because Ben was being forced into him. It is like walking into a punch.

Bennett will be fined, Ben will play next game with an injured foot, knee and head and will be asked to stand in the pocket risking hits 40+ times.

Not sure when protecting Ben came off the gameplan but it did. Not the best defense to throw 55 times against he was going to get crushed eventually.

They adjusted at halftime and got after AV. Tons of self inflicted wounds screwed us over badly today too. We've got a more talented offense than they have ever even dreamed of. Unfortunately our defense is made of swiss cheese.

It doesn't matter if there is a fine or not. The damage, whatever the extent is, has been done. A fine corrects nothing.
I hope Ben plays next week. If not, the season could be coming to an early end.
I had posted early last week that I was worried about Ben getting injured again because of the Seattle pass rush. Unfortunately, it was a legit concern.
Ben is underthrowing a lot of passes. I not sure if he has totally recovered from his first injury this year.
Let's hope Ben is cleared to play next week and the Steelers go on a winning streak and win 4 or 5 of the final 5 games. I still think we could win 3 of the remaining 5 games and get into the playoffs at 9-7, winning 4 and we are almost certain to get in at 10-6.
We are still good if Ben is back by Sunday.

Yeah RW said in his postgame a huge factor was 2 TDs off 3 and long.

Need the good old Steelers D back.

After the controversial failure of concussion protocol on a QB last week, the fact that Ben had to "self-report" is unacceptable. I saw on the replay that he got his head whacked pretty bad, and someone should have intervened. What are trainers for, and there are supposed to be independent observers at every game.

I'm wondering if he had vision problems. I think it's bad. He wrecks cars with his head. I doubt he plays next week.

Tomlin would play him if he was fully blind haha. Remember Leftwich playing through a full game with broken ribs while Charlie Batch (6-3 as Steelers starter) sat on the bench? I remember it vividly.

Please check Ben's winning percentage thruout his career when he attempts
40 or more passes. If I remember right it is shocking.

I asked this in another thread, and missed most of the first half - but why weren't we running the ball at all?

That was me. I'll man up and say I was wrong. But my issue with the concussion protocols still stand. If you let the player continue the drive, that's an egregious error on the spotter (or whatever they're called). For as "safe" as the NFL wants to appear to be, they don't want to interrupt the flow of the game. It's all about the $$$ in the end.

Did Ben or anyone say that he self reported? I'd have to go back and watch, but I thought that was the first chance the team doctors had to discuss the play with Ben. He didn't pause after the penalty and continued the drive.

I'm fine with our pass happy strategy. We put 30 points up against a pretty good defense in their house. that's usually enough if not for the pathetic play of our defense!

I just read that Ben played the last drive (that he played) with a concussion. Not sure if that is Ben self reporting or if that has been confirmed.

If Iron-man Ben took himself out of the game, he was either really hurtin' or scared about the symptoms.

Ben has had enough concussions to know when he has another one, so he self reported this one, so what, kudos to him for protecting himself from becoming a vegetable, he has titanium plates in his head, thats scary enough to make him concerned when he feels the symptoms, he needs to take all the time he needs to recover, his health is more important than some playoff run....
