Funny overall. The Patriots should be the Freys. Whenever they have a resounding victory, you know they've broken some rules intentionally.

Steelers as Dothraki. Ok. Last line? Uncalled for.

My first time seeing the show was just a couple of weeks ago. Time to find all the older episodes and play catch-up

Well, GoT swept the Emmys. Or just about. The show won 12 Emmys of the 13 it was nominated for (new record for most Emmys in one year by any show in history), including Outstanding Drama. They finally win this one for their WORST season? Really? They legitimately deserved it for earlier seasons and got snubbed. The competition must have been less than stellar this year. Not that I mind seeing the show finally get some respect. The timing is just very odd.

That said, episode 8, "Hardhome," was an amazing hour of TV and might have brought the Emmy to them alone.

Peter Dinklage won Supporting Actor for the second time. I don't recall Tyrion being anything special the past season. But maybe that's only because Peter Dinklage rocks so hard, we've grown accustomed to it.

They also won an Emmy for best writing. I'll repeat that, because I can't believe it. Dumb and Dumber won for best writing?! Really? Look, I'll give them Hardhome, but that had more to do with direction, cinematography, and action than writing. There's a reason this season is widely seen as their worst, and it all comes down to the writing. The absolute train wreck that was the Sand Snakes and the completely pointless and boring Dorne story line in its entirety alone is evidence of that. And, I'm sorry. but if you wrote this line, you don't deserve a writing Emmy. Ever:

    :facepalm::roflmao:

Agree, the writing was the worst of all the seasons and they win for that? That's the "artists" thumbing their noses at the audiences they need to buy their work again! "Hey! That's bold and daring to deviate from the source material and throw needless rape scenes and foul language in!" Screw the public! They don't know art! Give them an Emmy!

I'm with you all these points, Ray. But for me, I'm at least glad that we will get some kind, any kind, of resolution to the story because of the show. GRRM may seriously never finish his books. I can't imagine waiting another ten years for Winds of Winter or Dream of Spring. At least the show will finish the story and hopefully answer our biggest questions even if it is in a "broad strokes" kind of way.

Believe me, that's the only reason I keep watching. GRRM heart attack insurance.

But I have zero doubt that even if they get the broad beats right - even in a round about way - the books will be so much more fulfilling. I'm still holding out hope that TWOW will be released prior to, or early into next season.

That's hilarious, I wish I would've said that. Heart attack insurance is exactly what I meant. I hope you're right about TWOW, but I'm not optimistic.

Have you read The Name of the Wind yet? That is an even more unbearable wait. Only two of three books have been published and I've been waiting six years for the conclusion.

No. Believe it or not, I'm not a huge "Swords and Sorcerers" book fan. I mean, I like to read them, but I'll read almost anything. I don't make it a point to read High Fantasy just because it exists.

Most of my fantasy reading is limited to Tolkien and ASOIAF. Unless, that is, you count things like "Dune" (which many do despite its being classified as Sci-Fi).

That said, I'm currently reading a Trilogy that serves as a sequel of sorts to the movie "Willow." They're a fun read, if not exactly award winning writing. I'm currently about halfway through book 2. The second book is much better than the first.

I'll probably grab GRRM's "A Knight of the 7 Kingdoms" when it comes out. I know the major beats of the whole Dunk and Egg short stories, but I've never actually read them. And he promises to have new stories in the compilation book.

After that, another Trilogy I love is wrapping up in the spring. "The Passage" (aka The Story of Amy) by Justin Cronin. The first 2 books were great reads. The final book is set to release early 2016. (Note to GRRM: Cronin's last 2 books, "The Twelve" and "City of Mirrors" both had manuscripts of roughly 1500 pages - the same you say TWOW will be - and he wrote BOTH OF THEM in the time it took you to get however far with TWOW as you are. :frustrated:)

I'm with you. I will read just about anything good. Just finishing up the last of the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child and really enjoying them.

I read those "Willow" books a long time ago, I remember them being ok.

Dune is one of my all time favorites.

Name of the Wind is really good. I will let you know once it's all published.

Btw, if anyone is looking for something else to watch between now and April, Jessica Jones and Daredevil on Netflix are both awesome.

After Glenn on TWD being alive, this is the second worst kept secret in TV Land. I guess HBO realized everyone and their sister has seen pictures of him filming and said, "Oh well, it was a good run. Might as well admit it."

Man... I read that series about 30 years ago. Great books. I still have them on a bookcase, and it may be high time for a re-read.

I hear you. need to see if they're available on amazon prime in a series for the kindle.

Also, another good series for alternate history buffs is Colonization by Harry Turtledove. (WWII is interupted by alien lizards that didn't expect to find us with modern weapons on the verge of atomic power.)

Hmm, so top left means we see further than what they have in the book for him?

Top right, What!? where is that going and who's reflection is that in the blade?

Bottom left? LSH? Considering they've pretty much left the story building out of the Riverlands and the different sects.....

And the last one. Of course that's no surprise to anyone at this point.
