IGN today put a list up of Black Friday deals today and one of them is something my wife has asked for. It is a Samsung 32in Smart TV for only $198. All of my tv's are 42in LG's but I think that's a good deal. My question is do you have to actually go to the stores for the deals or do they also apply online? Here's the list for anyone interested and for the record I think going out in that crowd is just absolutely insane...but going to a stadium with 60,000 crazed football fans is totally normal. Make of that what you will... LOL!

Where is the smart TV going to be on sale? I didn't see that on the page you linked to. Sometimes you don't have to go to the stores to get the Black Friday price. It depends. My wife is really savvy at getting deals, and we've done better online for the past 4 years or so than we would have trying to deal with crowds on BF.

If you click on the Wal Mart link at the bottom of the page it is on that.

Looks like a good tv to me and good price too. I only have Sony or Samsung tvs but no complaints here. How do the LG's compare.

The wifey and i have been doing online black friday for a few years now. It has become pretty much the norm with major retailers. It cuts down on the stampede's as well!

Online Black Friday begins on November 27th this year, and will end with Cyber Monday on the 30th. 2015

We have one Sony TV and one Samsung TV, and they're both great, but I love the features on the Samsung, especially the Smart Hub that has all of the apps like Netflix, YouTube, etc. built-in. Just be warned that Samsung releases lots of updates for the Smart Hub, so it's not unusual to sit down to watch something streaming and have to wait for a Samsung update to download and install.

We don't have any "smart" TVs. We have a bunch of Rokus though, that we use for streaming. Any other device seems to need an update of some kind everytime I try to stream with it.

I love mine. I have a 42in plasma, 42in LCD, and 42in LED Smart tv. I game on my plasma, keep the LCD in the living room downstairs, and the LED in the living room upstairs. We watch tv on the LED because it's the highest res. I think the wi-fi in most tv's must be bad. At least the ones that are from the earlier days of smart tv's because I had to get a signal amplifier to be able to use the smart tv feature of it. Once I did though I was watching Netflix and Youtube in hd. My wife just wants a 32in Smart tv for the bedroom and I was trying to find a good deal on one. I've never had a Samsung but I know a lot of people use them and like them. I just hope they're better than my Samsung phones I've had because they've pretty much all been junk. I've had an Axiom and 2 Galaxy 4's. Are the tv's considered better?

So are the deals in that link only valid in the store or do they honor them online? Or do they have totally separate deals for the internet?

    Yes. :lolol:

Seriously though, it depends on the retailer. Those deals could be available online. And, truth be told, often times they get released online earlier than black Friday. Sometimes deals start leaking out on Thanksgiving morning.
Also, since the TV is at Walmart, there's a possibility that Amazon might have a identical deal on a similar TV. Those two seem to go back and forth (particularly around the holiday), and even though they (Amazon) might not advertise it, they might just offer something similar.
Samsung makes good TV's, IMHO. I have 4 different brand TV's in my house. One TCL Smart TV (sold on amazon), for the price, it isn't bad at all. One Westinghouse which is kind of crap (hey, it was cheap and I needed a tv for that room), one Sony LED which has the best picture, and my 8 year old Vizio Plasma, which was good when I bought it, but it doesn't compare to the LED TV's in my opinion. Plus, that thing throws off a ton of heat. Whenever I Get rid of that sucker my gas bill will probably go up $20 a month in the winter. :dancing:

Not sure about the honor system, we buy items as advertised in the store (ads~online) that catches our eye's and wallet. Just to reiterate we get the black Friday prices when ordering online, don't need to do the walk through. I'm thinking i still haven't helped you with this :lolol::shrug:

It just depends. Sometimes they're online, sometimes they're not. Doorbusters almost never are, neither are Special Buys typically. We've had extremely good luck with Amazon the past few years (last year was disappointing though).

I got a good deal on a 19inch Samsung for my son's room from Amazon as well last year. My only complaint was that they shipped it in the manufacture's box with no added packaging material. Everything was ok but would have rather had it a bit more protected.

I had a similar thing happen a few black Friday's ago. We got my parents a LED HDTV off Amazon. Super cheap. I think it was 42"...I can't quite recall. They still had their big console TV from the '80'...but, I digress. It was delivered quicker than we expected and came via a freight truck. My parents were visiting that day and sure enough they saw me carrying this big TV box up the walkway.

I load TONS of tv's from Amazon. They are actually really slim and easy to pick up but not packaged very well and honestly could be damaged very easily. Amazon destroys us during what we call "peak" season. It's unreal how much business they do.

I work a company called Digikey here in MN and my job is packaging customers orders so when it comes to knowing what can and can't be boxed I know what I am talking about. So when Amazon wanted feedback about the TV and my experience, I told them and got a nice dismissive email about how they package big box items. Strangely enough I wife ordered sleeping bags from amazon that came in a giant box big enough for my 4 yr old to call a house with plenty of packaging material. Since Amazon has multiple warehouses so Im sure standards drop

Reminds me a little of how I found out about Santa when I was a kid. I had asked for the original Kenner Millennium Falcon from Santa that year. We were spending the night at my grandparents, and my dad had gone on ahead of us. When my mom pulled into my grandparents driveway, it was dark, and the car's headlights shined right through the plastic department store bag that my dad was carrying the Millennium Falcon in and lit it up for me to see. My dad was pretty irritated. :D

Man that Falcon was awesome. Actually Kenner re-released it a few years ago and it was an exact replica of the original in the original packaging as well. It was only $250.
