Howdy fellow Steeler fans

From Texas no less! Got hooked as a 12 yr old in 1969 much to my Cowboy loving dad's dismay. Saw Joe Greene play at N Texas, heard his nickname, and as a 12 yr old, thought it was the coolest thing. So I started following the Steelers as much as you could back then from Texas (i.e. almost not at all save for drafts and newspaper scores) THEN the Immaculate Reception happened on my living room TV. Off to college in the late 70's and almost paid for some semesters by the number of Cowboy fans who actually gave me odds and points in the SB games. Never made it to 3 Rivers, but did finally take in a game at Heinz 5 years ago after I retired (29 degrees and snowing-near death to a Texan-loved every minute of it-and we beat the Bengirls!) So needless to say, I've been through the great, not so great, and the latest great years and can still name O and D lines from the 70's. Don't get all the broadcasts here with the Plowboys and Texans, and now currently have Dish, so no NFL Ticket. Live far enuff out in the country that I only get to a bar for a BIG game that's not televised locally. Happy to be here!

I myself became a STEELER fan at age 12 in 1972 when I watched the immaculate reception on my parents tv. I said to myself that day thats the team Im rooting for. The next week we were crushed by the Fins. But I never gave up. 43 years later for me 46 for you. Oh we have seen ups and downs. But here we are a lifetime latter still pulling for our team The PITTSBURGH STEELERS.

Howdy, and welcome. My jump onto the black and gold bandwagon was similar except, it was 1972 for me. Growing up in San Diego, I can definitely relate to not getting any team coverage, with the exception of Mon. night games.

 

Yikes, you had to bring up the Miami game, I died a little bit when Larry Seiple took off from punt position...ugh..

Yeah. A lot of people here use them. Just don't ever post one in a live thread though because TTF said it could get the site shut down. I always refer to them as "those things never to be spoken of" as sort of a melodramatic joke but it really is the wishes of the boss that we don't post them there. There is a member here called Big Bunch 68 though that I think uses them a lot on gameday and if you message him privately he should be able to help you out. I think there are some others that do it as well and I know they would help you if you message them.

I may be a touch younger than you, but I`m old enuff,
that they let us play tackle football on the playground in elementary school...

And, here in Northeast Ohio... Almost everyone was a Steeler, Brown, or Cowboy fan...

Except for those rare Raider, Dolphin, and Charger fans...

They are all still jealous of our six Lombardis!!!
