It looks like a sprain not a break, he still could be out for a while per twitter.

Yeah, depending on what type, those sprains can last a long time. Still better then a broken foot, still a chance now if its a lesser sprain.

Mild sprain, sure. If it's a severe sprain, a break would be better, because a severe sprain won't heal by the end of this season. It will bother him for the rest of the year, even if he could play again. At least with a break he would have a chance at coming back 100% after 5-6 weeks

Depends on the break. Basketball player Joel Embiid has been out for over 2 years with a broken foot.

The bye week will be MOST welcome, especially if Jones can lead us past the Browns!

Without Ben it's a crap shoot. He was just starting to get his timing back; this is not good for us

hope for a sprain... low sprain hes back next week probably .. high sprain might be back the week after

if hes out 5 or 6 weeks the season is over anyway .. its its a low sprain he could be back next week .. a mild high sprain hes back after the bye week.... a severe sprain would be worse then a clean break... the vick curse continues..

Why would they take him to hospital if they have X-ray machines at stadium and it's potentially just a sprain? I'm aware that sprains are awful, but why even announce sprain without MRI?

Not quite yet. We can beat the Browns at home with Landry Jones, then the bye week, then he sits out the Seattle game everyone already has done as a loss with him. Hopefully he is back for Indy, where they will be 6-5 and still in the WC hunt.

    Yea this is bad.
I don't get why these things keep happening to us & the cheating Patriots keep getting are 8-0.
I'm not an optimist- but I ALWAYS have hope for the Steelers. The guys that aren't injured- the guys who are on the field playing their asses off deserve our support.
Even if we have 1/2 a chance, it's still a chance. Of course it hurts to lose Ben for any amount of time- but we can afford to lose 1 or 2 more games & still get into the playoffs. We can lose next week & HOPEFULLY Ben comes back after the Bye. Then we have to beat the Seahawks- which I don't think that's too hard to do. As long as we have Ben. Depending on which Peyton we get, we can beat them too. The Broncos are losing to the Colts right now.

We were gonna have to win at least 8 in a row after the Cincy loss to have a chance at a WC anyways. So really, if we lose 2 more without Ben...I would sit him for the season anyways. Get Jones all the snaps he can get. It looks as if it will take 11 wins to get the last WC...so two more losses and we are eliminated anyways.

    I don't see it taking 12-4 to get a wild card? I'm thinking 10-6.

I think we beat the turds next week, roll into bye and maybe beat Seattle, they are tough at home. I am not worried about Peyton.. We have his heart.

Better news than i thought. Going to be a tough hill to climb, but only going to make it so much better if we can actually do it and make the playoffs and more.

Yea for sure, really thought it was broken cause he couldn't put any weight on it. A shame either way, as Ben was starting to get into a groove. He was stepping into his throws today, unlike last week.

Again with typically Ben, when he does come back, I afraid that he will have another game with rust before he gets into a groove especially if it's hard for him to step into his throws, thats when he throws the high balls.

Is this foot right below the bum knee or right below the good knee?

The situation sucks, but nothing we can do about it. Just going to wave my towel a little harder! Hope we get some good news after the MRI.
