I am by no means suggesting JJ could replace Heath(not sure if anyone can) but we have to see what we have with him. Is he a pass catcher, blocker or nothing? not gonna find out with him not playing.

Considering what a raw prospect he is, James put on a good show today.
Not "Heath" good, but it looks promising that he might eventually become a solid TE. He took advantage of all the attention being focused on Miller, to make some key catches.

I was impressed by that block on Bryant's TD pass. Besides giving Bryant time to scan the field to decide where to run, it looks like James took his man and blocked/tossed him into 2 other defenders.

Yeah he showed good focus on the ball that was tipped and he caught it as well. Like what I saw I feel was well worth giving him a look.....

Good job by James. Like Landry, I think he looked better in real action today than he ever did in preseason.

good for jj. i think daniels will make him better as we go, but i still think we draft for a #1 guy to replace heath. i wasn't saying or comparing him to heath or spaeth as a player but as a #1 TE or #2 TE for us. we use 2 quite often so if he only becomes that, it's a huge step forward for the team.

Agree that why not play Jessy James instead on Speath. Remember he is only like 20 years old. Especially on passing downs. Give himself the experience he needs and play him. I feel the same about Coats, he seems to me that he should be playing instead of 88. Sorry PWP but he has the worst hands of any receiver that was ever a no. 1 pick. I know he can block, but he is a sorry receiver, and Coats could be getting some valuable experience.

I couldn't believe Jesse threw away his first TD ball in the endzone. Do you think some equipment guy grabbed it for him?
