Basically since the NFL moved the kick off spot from the 30 to the 35 in 2011 kick returns have pretty much become a thing of the past and the rules committee even toyed with moving the kick off to the 40 in 2014 to limit injuries even further:

After a period where 84.9 percent of all kickoffs were returned, just 51.5 percent have been returned since 2011. In the 2013 season the return rate fell to 48.0 percent -- likely the first time in NFL history fewer than half of all kickoffs were returned. Teams set a record with 1,309 touchbacks.

Tomlin doesn't make the draft picks clueless, Colbert does.

LOL yea your gona tell me, that tomlin doesnt have any influence on who we draft,, if you cant tell the diff in talent drafted when Cowher was here and now Tomlin.. then u got problems..... you cant convince me that Colbert's ability to draft talent has fell that much

I'm not sure about that being a consistent thing... I can think of a fair few guys we've dropped, only to get picked up and do fairly well elsewhere.

Someone like Urbik comes to mind, in terms of doing fairly well.

Though the "fairly well" bit is probably a bit misleading - I guess what I'm really saying is that it's wrong to make out every guy we release is never picked up by another team. You seemed to be suggesting that we're drafting guys that nobody else wants to even look at; but that's not the case at all. That's not to say we're drafting incredibly well (otherwise we wouldn't be having to release them...).

Yeah and Cowher drafted Troy Edwards and Jamain Stephens in the first round, also Cowher didn't want to draft Big Ben so you're giving him too much credit.

Jamain Stephens, I forgot about that bum (or maybe my subconscious is just blocking it out) lol. Guy got cut for failing the conditioning test at the start of camp. We all need to remember this name when we throw around the "bust" label, myself included.
