these are what i've found bf. we had a couple of decent weeks, but i'm not sure if we factored in yet the 20+ missed tackles from last week. pff had us at 19th in the league. still well down in the league average. we were up by 15 earlier in the year. we also had alot less snaps then some of the other teams listed. pff had us at 107 missed out of 1010 snaps on defense. another 12 missed on ST's. as i said, i don't think last weeks 20+ are figured in yet. anyway it's not good. blake is the worst for us, followed by timmons. not good.

Whoops - sorry to set you up like that BFT, my bad. While we're at it, you know you really shouldn't do your own taxes, I'm having a few people over to discuss depletion, accelerated depreciation and income averaging - we'll have mineral waters. (and in honor of the SPMM stand in - "There's no crying in baseball!!!!" ). Now back to sloppy Steeler tackling.

If we go 6-3 we can also expect another season with out a playoff victory. Too much talent on this team to be as inconsistent as we are.

we better be 5-3 at the halfway point. i predicted 13-3 as i do every year so " we can loose no more" in the immortal words of pimp dylan.

    too early?

What makes you think they can't win a playoff game this year?

If we finish the 2nd half 5-3 and we are 4-4 at the half... you think we'll make the playoffs? I think 10-6 is the only way we get in.

What makes you think we can? We haven't won a playoff game since 2010. We haven't exactly been the best coached team the last 5 years. I don't care if you love Tomlin or not... facts are facts. We've had the talent to win but havn't. Not sure who else you can hold responsible for that fact. We've had an elite QB. Great WR's. Great RB's. solid LB's. I can see missing a playoff here or there...but since 2010 with Ben as our QB? That's inexcusable in today's NFL were the QB means everything.

If they go 10-6 and make the playoffs I have confidence they can win, barring no more injuries to the starters. The team haven't had the talent on defense the last few years, they were in transition from the older players on defense.

I never did mention this because I was so disgusted by last weeks loss.. I was at that game. I had great seats and could see our plays unfold perfectly. The entire 1st half we had opportunity after opportunity with WR's running deep routes and getting one on one coverage. KC kept 1 Safety back most of the first half into late in the 3rd quarter. It was a perfect opportunity to be throwing deep because there were clear miss matches yet we insisted on short to medium pass plays in the middle of the field 3/4's the game. The chiefs clearly knew our game plan and defended it perfectly... the crazy thing was that we didn't adjust until it was too late. When we did finally start looking deep they knew we had to. The coaching staff should have immediately seen the opportunities they were giving us.. I don't get why we ignored it. IMO that is why we struggled to score in the first half and why we lost the game. It was so blatantly obvious to me and the group of steeler fans we were sitting by we just couldn't understand it. When we finally did go deep we scored.

I do also have some issue with not using Miller and Bell in the passing game. IF your game plan was to keep the pass plays in the middle of the field and short...why then not use screens and quick passes to the guys who are great at it (Bell & Miller) ? I understand keeping Miller in to block if you want to protect Jones so I do get why we didn't feature Miller in the game plan. It just didn't make sense. We out thought our selves then did not do a thing to adjust till it was too late. That loss was 100% on the coaching IMO. and before you point to turnovers... the turnovers were largely a product of the playcalling. forcing the ball in the middle when they were defending it - was mistake #1. The fumble was a gaffe in blocking which if we had scored points earlier in the game we would not have been in obvious passing situations - which did set up that sack and fumble. The other INT was a bit of a fluke...tipped pass - bobbled ball by brown...but again was in the middle of the field - were mistakes happen especially to QB's making their first start. All while ignoring the deep post.
