now that we are thin at CB, Brandon Boykin will finally get some quality playing time. i'm sure we kept him on the bench for so long because we don't have to give up a 4th round pick. i can't remember the % of snaps Boykin has to take to bump up to the 4th round pick, but I'm sure by now it should be a 5th round pick. Hope to see him play more going forward.

I'm not so sure his snaps are going to go up. If Gay's shoulder is okay, I don't see Boykin getting a larger role on D. I wish they would give him some work in Blake's spot, but I don't think it's going to happen.

There's something going on with this guy that I can't figure out, and we may never know the real deal. I find it kind of hard to believe that he hasn't learned the defense well enough at this point of the season. I would think after Blake's struggles that he'd at least get a look this week?

Why would we allow Boykin to play? He seems to always make a nice play or two, including one Sunday, when he's in there. It's more fun to watch #41 chasing after a receiver after he's been burned yet again, don't you agree? :frustrated:

I don't see Gay missing any games... Literally... I don't think he's missed a game in his entire career.

I find this an extremely foolish decision if true. With the state of our secondary there is no reason to keep a greater talent on the bench just to preserve the extra round, especially with as vital as each win can be. Of course, if Boykin can't signifcantly outplay the incumbents one has to question why he was traded for in the first place.

Gay has the longest active streak among DBs at 135 games played.

At this point I say to heck with scheme and playbook and if he can cover guys one on one and stay with them just let him do that. Can't be any worse than whats out there and may be better.

That they are holding him back so they don't have to give up a 4th rd. pick.

I read where Boykin has a groin injury. Maybe this is why he has been out?

From the chat with Ed Bouchette:

Kevin: Saw in the PG that Boykin has had a groin problem, for some time. Why has this just been revealed?

Ed Bouchette: Because maybe he nor anyone else ever mentioned it before?

Looked up some stories and yes he has been limited due to this issue. Hopefully he get's in this week and shines.

Nice P/A reply by Ed. If the injury was seriously limiting his practice time and chance to play, why didn't it get 'mentioned' by way of a the team's weekly injury report?
