I did not see much of games today. But I saw a lot of Jarvis in the game. I do not think it is a coincidence our D played better against a better offensive team when #92 plays more snaps.

    What are your opinions

Not taking up for JJ, but Harrison hasn't exactly lit it up thus far. Both are doing ok. and ok isn't going to cut it.

Harrison's best play was blowing one up in the backfield that forced Alex Smith out of the pocket and to throw it out of bounds. Here's the thing for me though. Harrison is an old man that's here for depth and leadership and his best days are clearly behind him. JJ is a first round draft pick with some injury issues that frankly needs to start stepping it up and fast. Especially with Tuitt out. We need some guys in the backfield and I don't care WHO it is but it needs to happen and now.

Harrison was actually double teamed on that play. Completely blew up the first blocker then drove the second one back as well. His best days are behind him but he still draws double team coverage.

Which actually doesn't speak well for the other guys up front if you think about it. I think I'm gonna quit thinking about it.

Good idea. I think you should go knock on Harrison's door and tell him he is an old man, but tell me when you are going to do that. I want to be there to see him slap the snot out of you. lol

I love him and he's one of my all time favorites but the truth is the truth. It's sad that he's still drawing double teams when we have high draft picks all over the place with our linebackers and he was NEVER a high draft pick. Some guys just want it more and maybe they see a little more grit in his play than they do the other guys. I think with Tuitt out though that is really the reason he would have drawn double teams today.

We need studs against the run. JJ is not the answer.JH is a better choice. Our te problem can be solved by placing Spence on them. Once tuitt comes back...there will be more pressure. Did shaxier play today?

Yeah Shazier played pretty well I'd say. I really like his closing speed.

Yes Shazier played today. You didn't see him destroy Alex Smith?

Please give me the "Old" James Harrison any day over Jarvis "Average" Jones. The good news is Dupree is making an impact.

Harrison is one of the best tackler on the team. I know when he is playing on the right side I feel a lot better then when JJ plays there. JJ whiffed on a couple of tackles yesterday.

The tackling has been bad not only for the Steelers but across the league this year. Watching games yesterday and saw missed tackles every where. I am beginning to wonder if these lighter less contact practices are contributing to the lack of fundamentals. Also some of it has to do with the college game being slowly turned into Arena football. There is not the premium placed on defense that there once was. Many good defensive players in college are good because of their athleticism not necessarily of their fundamentals.

I'm not going to stick up for JJ, but I didn't really see Harrison make much of an impact off the right. He had one or two good plays, but generally speaking the pass rush was limited.

The real head scratcher is when he lines up five feet away from the DE and looks like he is covering the slot receiver. What is that all about? Are the nickel corners that bad that Silverback has to be used in coverage to assure a tackle?

To say i expect any kind of production from JJ, would be a HUGE LIE, He is just another one of Tomlins boys, who is a waist of a Jersy

The other thing, Harrison only has so many plays left in him. If we can save some for later in the season, I'm all for that but the young guys need to step up and at least play decent. JJ has been such a disappointment. But he was supposed to be good, everyone thought so, but that's how the draft works. Remember a few years ago when everyone on here was convinced we were getting Clowney? How has that "can't miss pick" done? Injured 1 season and average at best this season.

Yeah, I think we missed Tuitt yesterday...

    One thing I did notice...

#92 got in one of their heads enuff to get a personal foul penalty called against them...

    And didn`t retaliate...

Just got the 15 yards for our team...

I even remember the tv announcer saying...
"If you wanna get in a fight with a kid on the schoolyard, #92 is probably NOT who you wanna get in a fight with!!!"... LOL:lolol::thumbs up::butcher:....

And James had the restraint to not retaliate...

I know his attitude, and, in the past, he probably would have knocked the guy`s head off, that he got into it with...

But, "Silverback", has learned thru the years...

    I just got us a 15 yard flag!:aikido:

That "Old Man" is contributing more, than even, I expected this year!!!

Not his best game, yesterday, But I`m still glad we have him!:club:

Speaking of Line Backers. Did Woodly do anything against us? I watched the game at the ale house. Some guy stopped by to talk and yack a few times. Last time he stopped I let my shirt ride up and he saw my gun. So woodly may have made a play I didn't see but did anyone see him make one?

yes hawkeye it is league wide but we lead the next closest team by a big margin in missed tackles. that isn't a stat you want your defense to be killing the rest of the league in.
