Number 1 reason the team loss was due to turnovers. Can't win many games giving the ball away 3 times.

Number 2 reason the team loss was due to not getting it done on 3rd down on offense and defense.

Burgh I don't often agree with anything you say and I'm pretty sure that you have to have a sore backside from riding the fence as much as you do but today I will agree with your typical mantra and it came down to player execution. didn't make plays when they need to and the Chiefs did.

We are never prepared to dominate a lesser caliper team.We make teams look way better they really are. Next week kc will go right back to their losing ways.

I'm only referring to TEs that are lined up tight to the tackle, and only if that TE is a key part of the passing offense. You can do it with a rusher lined up over the TE or a backer who has underneath coverage on that side. It's not as risky as having a corner play bump and run.

Also, on doing the same to pesky Edelman - because he lines up in the slot 1-2 yards behind the line, a defender can't hit him on his first step. It's very risky to try and disrupt his route that way when he's getting a step or two before he gets to the line. He's just so frickin elusive.

Yeah. That's what they do to a lot of people really. Also I didn't mean to say that BA ball stalls between the 20's but that it stalls in the red zone.

The secondary was pitiful yesterday. I could have caught passes with the wide open lanes, wide open field at times where NO one was even near the play. Was disturbing. Then there must have been some anti tackling gamma ray being shot at the Defense. It was comical. The D has held their own but got owned yesterday. They let yac all over the place but have been tough in the red zone. The dam broke yesterday.

Butlers going to have his hands full game planning against Green and Eifert.

Turnovers we lost 3 and didn't create any. Then also gave up the ball on downs.

The total opposite of we were doing in our other games.
Going into yesterday we led the league in fewest turnovers.

We also lacked any pressure on the QB. This usually creates the turnovers.

We also need to limit the TE's production. We are getting killed by TE's.
Gronk, Gates, Kelce. These guys have made it look like kids play against our defense.

I cannot stand Blake. He's been getting beat all over the field every week. I too was hoping we were done with him when he got injured and thought finally we'll get to see Boykin. We'll never get better in the secondary while Blake is in there. Is it just me or does anyone else notice that each week it seems like the other teams game plan is to throw it to whoever Blake is covering???????

I couldn't watch the game, but why did Bell only have 17 rushes? Stats line seems that he was very effective running, why did we put the ball in Landry Jone's hands with so many passes instead of running more? Like I said, I didn't see the game, but box score wise, it would seem we should have run more.

It's not like we have a starting QB, a 3rd/4th stringer shouldn't be trying to throw more than maybe 15-20 times a game, max, IMHO.

YESS!!! We did manage to disrupt Kelce at the line once and it was huge. Not sure why we didn't continue to do that.

Dupree said after the game that they started chipping Kelce too late. Welllll that's good to know...Sigh....

They really didn't put it in his hands that much if you watched the game. There was like an 8 minute span where he didn't throw it at all. Also Williams got quite a few looks yesterday and actually at least about 1 too many. In 4th and 2 situations they were actually letting Williams carry it and that's just dumb. There's no excuse for not giving the best back in the league the ball when you only need 1 or 2 yards. Tomlin and Haley need their plows cleaned for that crap.

Well, on the 26 yarder that led to the final TD, Dupree was lined up over Kelce and didn't chip him. Was it by design, or did he mess up? We'll never know, but if he chips Kelce there the timing of that seam route is off, and we probably force Smith to look to a secondary receiver. That play was a killer, and should not have happened - at least; not as easily as it did. I certainly hold the DBs responsible for the awful coverage, but we KNOW we have coverage issues with our DBs and should have helped them with the chip.

Not for nothing, but nobody is containing these guys. I think I saw a stat flashed that Kelce was averaging 14.5 yards a catch entering that game. TE matchups are a league wide problem.

You have a good point there, BFT. Some teams are set up to take advantage of our defensive strategy; and while the defense has potential, it's not yet good enough to deal with every offense it looks at.

I think we need to give the Cheifs some credit here as well. Andy Reid had got them pumped up, and they had regained focus from 5 straight losses. That was their season right there.

We got out of rhythm early, and made some dumb plays. The TD we let in because 3 defenders marked one guy was silly. The missed tackles were silly. Deangelo not catching the ball properly was silly, and AB knocking the ball up was unfortunate, but (as I said in the gameday thread) he wasn't on top form. Shazier was a little too enthusiastic at points.

All of this can be fixed. This defeat is not the same as, say, against the Pats, where I was looking at the team and tihnking: "they just aren't good enough". Granted, there are still some out there, but not as many as it seemed in Week 1.

Man I'm so sick of seeing our secondary torched that I'm to the point that if they take 7 db's in the draft I'm not gonna be mad about it.

I read that our defense looked fatigued again late in the game. I didn't watch the game, but I imagine it could have looked like the end of the SD game, when their offense was beginning to move the ball at will. I don't think it's our entire defense, as we do a good job rotating out our OLB's. Mainly, I think our two DL just get fried from being on the field nearly every snap.

I think we need to sub out Heyward (and Tuitt when he comes back) early in games and more frequently. Those two have to be strong for the 4th quarter so we can close out games.

We know Tomato Cam Thomas is terrible, but why not use McClendon in the DE rotation? It's not like he sees a lot of playing time as strictly a NT. With an energized Heyward/Tuitt combo late in games providing some interior push, I think our edge rushers find more success in the 4th quarter.

    I saw three factors.

    1. The third string QB played like a third string QB. His fantasy carriage turned back into a pumpkin.

    2. We played with less energy on defense after a stretch of emotional games that had to drain us.

    3. As I feared, KC played their best facing virtual elimination. Even though their best is not that great it was enough to beat our lame effort.

Ben should be back for the Bungles game, but I got a bad feeling he will be rusty. If he does not get off to a slow start, then maybe we win.

Landry Jones is exactly what I said he was he is a QB #3 at best. His balls stay in the air way to long and he throws short on every throw of 40 yards or more .

Coach Haley fell into the trap I feared he would be trusted Jones way to much and didn't stick to the run game enough nor did he use the screen game or short passes to the RB'S or TE'S ...

On Defense we are exactly what I thought . We don't have good enough CB'S to play on the outside. We can't stop quick passing Teams and when we try we have to leave the middle wide open because we have to help both outside CB'S . This Team needs at least 2 CB'S probably 3, again we have a bunch of nickle and dimes and not a #1 or #2 in the bunch....

CINCINNATI -- For six weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers were one of the five best teams in the NFL at controlling turnovers.

With a plus-six turnover margin, they were doing a dramatically better job creating them as opposed to allowing them.

That changed Sunday in Kansas City when the Steelers lost the ball three times (two interceptions and one fumble) in a 23-13 loss. If there was any message the defeat sent the 6-0 Cincinnati Bengals ahead of this week's game in Pittsburgh, it was that they must take the turnover battle very seriously. Creating turnovers or committing them can have a very big impact on the outcome of this game.

The Chiefs took advantage of two of the Steelers' turnovers, scoring a touchdown after one, and then kneeling out the clock to seal the win. Kansas City also kicked a field goal after a failed Steelers fourth-down try. While Pittsburgh kept giving the ball away on offense, its defense was unable to take it back. With a minus-three turnover margin for the game, the Steelers now have a plus-three turnover margin for the season, dropping them from first in that category into a tie for ninth with the Bengals and Cardinals.

the defense looked horrid. to much having to use every other position to cover receivers so we can cover db's deficiencies. nobody left to stop the run. our lb'ers are way over paid. timmons is bothered by that turf toe. he just doesn't move like he used to. blake? for God's sake. one lucky int. return won't make you good. boykin went in and played pretty well and blake came back and went back on the field and KC knew it. what the heck happened to this group in one week? sheesh!! i think haley coaching the kid for a week made the kid worse.

Except for that 15-odd minute stretch when they didn't attempt any passes?

Agree about the lack of screens, but there was some woeful execution when they did try them.

There was an early pass when Wheaton was in the wrong place (again). We needed all the receivers to be making an impact in the game, as well as Heath and the RBs - the key to Jones' success last week was being able to use all of the weapons we have. This week, the weapons all seemed a little blunted. Including AB.

It seems Blake is getting worse every game. I thought he was going through growing pains previously but it's really time to sit him and let Boykin play. He just can't be any worse. Now as for mr. CAM #93. Do these coaches watch film??? This guy's been stealing a paycheck for awhile now. There has to be someone on the practice squad that's better than him. Suggestion: cut this bum now!!! With Tuit out, teams will run on us at will. And mr. 1st round pick,JJ ADMIT IT he's a bust. Has anyone seen Howard Jones play lately??? Way better than Jarvis. Until they fix the projectors I guess we're stuck with these bums Tomlin calls "next men up"!! Really frustrated with this coaching staff.
