I might add going for the blow up instead of wrapping the guy up and taking your own man out of the play.

So glad the Walking Dead is on tonight.... At least that will make me forget about this crap loss.
Or maybe it will just remind me of it more. Our secondary kinda looked like walkers today.

Except Mike Mitchell. Wow he can hit.

Our players just never give the little extra to win consistently.

    Theirs do
Because they know they have to. Ours know coach will tell them to hold the line. Over and over.

We should have beat this team. They are not very good offensively.

We had a 3rd string qb playing against a really stout front with a 3rd string lineman and second string center protecting him. I'm just glad it was as close as it was.

Yep. Could have been worse. You didn't think the odds were pretty stacked against us today?

We've played some good fronts this year though.

so just looking at the Standings real quick:
If Playoffs started tomorrow, Steelers at Denver?

I didn't know that the AFC was so weak, lots of teams with losing records.

    EDIT: Steelers at Jets

This is kind of it for me, as well.

If we had won, I would be feeling overwhelmingly positive.

We lost, there were some errors, there was bad execution, and it looked a bit horrible familiar - but it's not a game I'll lie awake thinking about.

Next week no guarantee of a W with a rusty Ben, fire up Bengals team who has had almost 2 weeks to prepare and playing inspired would love nothing more than to slam us at home with this team homefield advantage means nothing bad protection by Oline spells disaster waiting to happen. We shall see!!!

    But.....playoffs don't start tomorrow!
It's only one game. Played against a desperate team. In their house.

I'm just seeing where they are....for some odd reason, today's loss doesn't even hurt me. Odd

It hurts because it is another AFC loss. 2 now to crappy teams - status quo for the Tomlin era...

I'm kinda numb to it right now. Later in the season I will probably be a bit more miffed when the playoff picture becomes more clear.

Next 3 games I see 2-1 we lose to Bengals "who wants it more if you will" 6 -4 sounds about right this team needs an identity right now!!!! You gotta play to the whistle Alot of half hearted and soft play. You got to win the winnable games like today. Wildcard is where will be if this continues.

First off On D, we crowded the line all game, which did virtually nothing. Smith knew where he was going with the ball all game, he had no pressure whatsoever. They had one weapon, a TE, and we had no plan the shut him down. In addition the trouble stopping runs up the middle has reared it ugly head again... It has become a trend.

On offense we were conservative, too predictable. Landry had trouble throwing in the middle of the field, so coaches had to account for that, but we could have used more screen or simple roll outs to keep the defense on its toes.

I also dint like the predictability of DeAngelo as a short yardage guy. On the second 4th down we missed it should have been a run fake.

Yeah that's why I'm not really all that worried. The AFC is really weak this year and the Pats look to be the only true class of it. The Broncos aren't really that good either and without their defense they would be looking at a really crappy record right now.

I don't know if I'd say the class of the AFC since it is hard to win when the deck is stacked. Remember that penalty question I asked last week? strangely it came up in their game this week only it happened to the Jets wow go figure, offensive penalty in final minute and a 10 sec run off, last week the Pats not so much.

Marshall lined up incorrectly on that play. If you see the Gronk TD it was in a busted coverage that would make even OUR secondary blush!

The point was it was called and the time was taken off. Last week the Pats had offensive pass interference in the endzone with 6 seconds left in the half and no time run off.

Oh I was just saying that they did have a little luck on their side today. I still think they're the best team in the AFC though.

This is pretty much true. I think the most recent time we beat them came down to 2 things:

    1. Ben was more efficient than normal. Which helps keep pace with Brady scoring. Ben is usually not efficient enough in the redzone to match them.

    2. Defense jammed their receivers and threw off Brady's timing.

Basically you need a perfect storm to beat the Patriots, and its rare that ever happens. I don't know what it is, but we never have a pass rush on him, but not many teams do.
