Too early to tell that. So far, it's fair to say they have competition and their jobs are at a potential risk.

We'll need to see a bit more from Boswell - the likelihood is it's a camp battle decided in the early preseason.

I don't know about Gradkowksi... we'll still keep 3 QBs, though I wonder if they'd take a shot at a late round QB in the draft should the right name appear.

But like WWW says, far too early to tell really.

When you think about all the money this team has invested in kickers if Bozwell bolds well He will be cheaper then keeping suisham next season

Maybe not as cheap as you think, Boswell has an agent too....

In this business, they will always try to find a guy to do the job that is younger and cheaper.
Boswell and Jones fit that roll. But, I need a sample size of two games and one game to come to
a better conclusion on the future of other players.

I'm not as up on the CBA rules as I used to be, but I believe that he needs 4 years in the league before he can be a true unrestricted free agent who can just sign with the highest bidder.

Both are gone. Jones caught a huge break coming in after Vick . The D was prepared for a slow release and a simple game plan .I fear we will see a much different Jones this week. I just hope Haley keeps him in game manager mode so we can sneak another win .

Jones is a QB3 at most Grad is getting old we need another young QB in the stable .

Hogwash. If Jones was as bad as everyone was making him out to be, then a stout defense like the Cardinals would have handled him regardless.

Face it, they found their #2, sitting under their nose the hole time. KC will have a week to prepare but so will Jones, you think he even sniffed a snap in practice last week? Came in cold and did that.

Ill tell you this much, weather he does as good as he did last week or not, he'll certainly play above Vicks level. Not saying much but still.

He may very well play above that level and yet we may have a greater chance to loose . Thinking a player is better than what he is can be a very dangerous thing . I am glad he played great , but in no way is it hogwash that Teams can get hood winked by the style of different players . Jones is not a solid option as a #2 and neither was Vick . I will be happy to be wrong , but that's just how I see it....

I would take Joe Webb over both of them every day of the week ...

I just don't understand the reluctance by some to give Landry Jones his due and to basically totally dismiss him as an effective backup to Ben. He will never be Big Ben, we all get that, but as I've said before that doesn't mean that he can't develop into a capable starting quarterback in this league in the same mold as somebody like Neil O'Donnell. The kid is obviously smart, has a strong arm and a quick delivery so if you surround him with playmakers who's to say that he can't be an effective distributor of the football. O'Donnell helped take us to the Super Bowl and had us on the cusp a couple of other times. Just because LJ can't put the team on his shoulders like Ben and win the game himself does not mean he can't develop into a capable backup and a potential heir apparent. Give him a break folks! He played a straight read option in college and it's taken him a while to pick up the intricacies of a pro style offense while playing with scrubs and practice squad wannabes!

Thank God that wont happen. Have no idea why you would advocate bringing in a QB with a completely different skill set then what the offense normally rolls with after the disaster of Vick.

Vick wasnt even a solid option at number 4. Landry will be fine as the 2.

Webb showed a lot of pocket passer ability in this pre season . He showed so much the Team has him on the 53 man roster . Not only is he on that he also gets a game hat as a 3rd. QB . Not to many get that as a 3rd. string QB . Sorry if you don't like value, but I love the more you can do approach ....Nothing like a 3rd. string QB making huge hits on ST'S these types of things go a long way towards building a true Team mentality ....

He has little to no value as a QB. Going back the last 15 SB's, only Wilson can be deemed as a running QB and not even sure how much read option stuff Seattle even does anymore.

The game is still largely won with traditional pocket passers. This is not college, its not HS, try doing that running crap in the pros and you end up with a short career.

I'd like to add along with Blast comments that there is a reason why Webb didn't catch on in Minnesota where they actually liked having a running QB and why after he signed with Carolina he was used as a WR before this preseason. He is a nice athlete but only fair to middling as a QB, he would be an upgrade over Vick but he would still look to run after his second read and that limits the playbook again. Yes there is the potential to have this be a trap game but there is also the potential to have Jones manage the game and get everyone involved. Even utilizing the screen pass to Bell or a bubble screen to Brown behind your boy DHB and Bryant.

Well the past is the past so I don't live in those fears.Obviously QB'S who can run must be able to throw as well in the NFL. The Panthers are showing that look and doing very well with it . 49rs. are looking much better the last 2 games . Seattle is still showing it and now getting the TE involved big time . The Eagles seem to have gotten it on track as well .Even the Chargers showed a Boot the QB type lately and killed defenses with that .

There is room for multiple styles in the game of Football on every level, it all comes down to tweaking those styles and execution .If Webb still looked like a guy who couldn't read the Defenses or throw the must make NFL throws then I would see it different . The tape clearly shows he has got much better in that regard and is a QB that would be very hard to prepare for ....

I think fans need to be careful having an extremist view towards players and coaches. Jones may very well turn out to be a solid #2 option. Who knows? He might turn out to be a number 1 option some day.

Maybe the Steelers can trade him for a draft choice if he can continue to build on his success?

Some fans didn't believe that Jones deserved a roster spot. He proved those people wrong. It's often better to wait and see what happens with a player then to form an opinion that a player isn't this or that. That will keep you from looking like a fool.

I don't mind being a fool ,,,all that know me know that...I just look at tape and look for certain traits while watching that tape .I draw my conclusions from that,I don't have all the info just like the rest of the fans.....I guess you could say I am just like any other NFL scout .Just look for what you are looking for and then grade those results accordingly. Yes you will hit some and yes you will miss some....As stated I would be happy to miss when it comes to Jones, unfortunately I just haven't seen it and in my minds eye I cant see it ......

It's unfortunate that you don't see the potential in Jones.

They're haters from way back on drafting day. I've been behind him since fans bashed him the day he was drafted because of that. I have had my moments of doubt sometimes but last week he showed tremendous leadership. With the weapons he has the skies the limit. No, he won't be Ben but then again nobody else is. Give the kid a chance and I think he can excel.

People formulate an opinion of players very quickly, myself included and its hard to back them off of it. Landry will hopefully keep proving them wrong.

I liked this quote by Ben in regards to Landry:

jones has come a long way and it was pretty evident in the preseason. last week just vindicated that. we didn't draft this kid just to throw him away after a few seasons. he is working towards a spot on this team. i hope MT has learned any vet just will not do and it is not always the better way to go.

I never said I didn't see potential in him...For the most part I thought he had no place in the NFL at all ....Now I do see a guy who is clearly focused.A guy who clearly Loves the game . A guy who is really good above the neck......At the same time I see a guy who's arm just isn't big enough ,mind is just not fast enough , and a guy that just doesn't have enough of that it factor......

Now does that mean I think he can't come in and win a game or 2 ? No I think he can...I think he is a guy who just can't win many more than a game or 2 ...In today's NFL that is a QB3 in my book . The true #2 needs to be a guy you feel is starter material. Obviously you see him as that and obviously I don't . Time will tell, and again I am happy if he proves me wrong ....
