This Crow tastes pretty good with Cardinal.

I'm probably not the first to admit it but I'm eating thanksgiving sized crow after that win. I didn't think we had any chance to win that game. Not with Vick.

I did post a couple times that our only chance was if our defense has the game of their lives and they pretty much did. I just didn't see that happening against that offense with a motivated Arians wanting paybacks. Our defense has surprised me. Props to Mr Butler. I also expected problems with DL gone. It was clearly time for KB to take over this defense.

On a side note I'm a little disturbed the the fact that we went with Vick over Jones. There's a clear problem in our FO or coaching staff in terms of personnel decisions. If Vick doesn't get hurt we're looking at another loss. The players even didn't understand it.

I think all coaches like to play it safe and go with a proven veteran. Lebeau was that way, and so was Cowher, and I can't complain about their track records.

After a few games though it is clear Vick can't move this offense. I might give Vick one more shot, but he would have a short leash if the offense sputters again.

Landry didn't out play Vick in preseason. I felt Landry was going to move the ball better than Vick, but I didn't see the 2 TDs coming. He proved everyone wrong.

Yeah with what Jones had shown up until yesterday I think the safe call was Vick. That said going forward Vick should not see the field again. Jones looked more comfortable out there then Vick has his whole time as a steeler

No way Vick starts again over Jones, and Haley has to be ecstatic to get to use the full playbook again, Bells yardage has dropped just because we had no passing game to set up the run, only a jerk like Tomlin would mess this up by putting that over the hill C level QB back in the starting position, start LJ in KC this sunday and let Ben rest that knee for another week, and remember, Ben still has to game test his knee, and too soon back and it swells up and sets him back a couple of weeks, we can beat KC without him, so dont rush him back too soon, and like Dieon Sanders said after yesterdays game, Vick has nothing left as a QB and needs to retire for good....

Ummm what? Landry didn't outplay Vick in the preseason? Vick barely played and when he did it was huge splash plays and little else Landry played more than anyone in the preseason and was never in danger of being the number 2 guy no matter how he played. Hard to beat some one out of a job that there is no competition for and is being given to a veteran based on the coach being his fan.

Starting a player who doesn't know the offense over one that does isn't what I'd call "safe". The post gazette even reported that the players didn't understand it either. I mean how many times have we sat young players with a ton of talent because they didn't understand the playbook ? Defensively it's always been the thought process. That process has proven to work over the years. Then with Vick we throw that out the window and start a veteran with little understanding of the offense over someone who's been learning it for 2+ years. I'd even understand if we had a veteran QB that was actually good backing up Ben. Vick has done nothing really. He's a liability when it comes to turning the ball over...and that's when he knows the offense.

I also don't think its fair to say Vick beat out Jones in preseason. There's more to it then preseason game stats. I'm sure Jones was actually running our full order of plays. Vick still does not understand the playbook and it's week 7 now. This is a complete failure on managements part. Imagine this in your own job. I've seen it before. Good managers don't promote guys that can't do the job...when you have capable employees sitting in the wing.

From somewhere I got the impression Jobes just hasn't been playing well in practice including last Friday. I'm guessing that kept him off the field which would not be surprising. Hopefully his brief play Sunday keeps him on the field. Then we can see how he does as a starter. I'll wait till then to anoint him as anything good or otherwise.
