So if Vick can't go next week and Ben is still out who is our new QB?

I think Jones is our starting QB, but you do bring up a good question. We will need to sign a backup if Vick can't play. I'm sure we won't want to go into the game with one healthy quarterback.

Yeah totally thinking Jones will start for us next week. But if Ben and Vick are out we got to have a back up.

The Steelers might put Vick on Ir or cut him and sign somebody else

Consider this. What if Vick's hamstring is serious enough for us to sign a backup QB. With Jones earning the confidence of his coaches today is there a chance Vick gets cut?

That sounds like a horrible idea. Why should we risk Ben in spot duty if he isn't healthy enough to go. If he's healthy enough to play, let him start. If not, make him inactive. We can call up Murphy, or sign someone off the street like Indy has been doing while Luck was out.

Because playing guys who dont know the playbook has worked so well for them so far.

Ben will probably play but if they feel like giving him another week, they may feel like they have that option after what Landry showed today.

Call Jarod Lorenzen. With the speed we have at receiver he can heave it 70 yards to beat most CB's.

I guess we would be hoping that the back up to the back up's back up (read that slowly lol) won't need to come in and play. If Ben can't go, I'd rather throw out some scrub to hand it to Bell than risk Ben's season (and career) in spot duty.

I'm under the assumption that Ben will play as well. I'm glad Landry played well today, but I really hope Ben is 100% ASAP.

If Ben and Vick are both unable to play I wonder what the plan will be!

I would guess maybe Tyler Murphy? Call me crazy, but I bet Charlie Batch could come in for one game and back up.

Yeah. On the highlights he said something to the effect of, "You can be Mike Vick anymore" when he hurt his hammy on that run.

No. I'm guessing they rehab Vick's hammy this week for enough that he could come in for spot duty. Of course Ben will be lobbying to play but I guess that he might need one more week minimum.

Jones gets the start, Vick #2

What if Vick's hammy is fake so Tomlin has an "excuse" not to put him back in? :hmm:

I'm hoping he doesn't rush himself back. Chiefs record isn't great. But they have some decent pass rushers, in Houston and Hali.
Then again I'm not thrilled to see that his first game back would be the Bengals either.
If the doctors, coaches, and himself feel that he is healthy enough than he should play.

Ben is supposedly going to be a full participant in practice on Wednesday.. Good sign. This could mean this conversation is moot. Good point though Glenn

Exactly why you plan ahead . Now I think we need to go all out for Joe Webb.He is better than Jones IMO. He could back him up and then when Ben gets back he can still get a hat as he is a great ST . Carolina could use a WR ,maybe we could get him and a late round draft pick for Wheaton .

Great sign! Do you think Ben thought that if LJ had another game like he had on Sunday that we may have a good old fashioned quarterback controversy in the Steel City?:smiley1:

Even if vick is healthy, we still dont have a backup, like deion sanders said, vick dont have it anymore and he needs to retire and go home...

mike kafka is out there. even if ben plays or landry plays. we need a better backup. i like webb as well but kafka wouldn't require a trade. he's always done pretty well but been the odd man out and been cut. he's a northwestern guy so he probably has some smarts and could pick the O up a little quicker. of course this close to game time murphy might be the better option. we know he has a little time in the qb room.
