Dude Batch just pointed out that Landry's pass to Bryant surpassed his pass to Heath in 06 as the LONGEST PASS PLAY IN THE HISTORY OF HEINZ FIELD!!! THERE'S a trivia question for the ages!

I really have to question whoever is evaluating our backup QB talent. I have a real problem of watching 5hours of Vick stink and 1 hour of Landry lighting it up. I suspect an ego on an idiot.

The only thing that ever worried me was that I never quite felt he could be the man when it mattered. At least that's how I felt when he was drafted, I was happy and thought he would be a great #2.

But since then and as I have continued to watch OU, I'm starting to feel part of OU's problem with winning the big game is Stoops himself. It seems like he refuses to make adjustments and now I'm wondering if that's the lack of clutch I saw from Jones at OU.

With that said, I'm have a total man crush on Baker Mayfield (new OU QB). Man what a clutch tough player. I like him better than Sam Bradford and Jones. I hope he somehow flies under the radar and drops in the draft and we pick him up. I really think he's going to be a good one.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!! Just saw this on the internet so I know it's true: Tomlin and Haley have both been fired, BB has been appointed as Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, Vick has been returned to the slammer (for his own protection) and Landry Jones will be the starting QB. I know - I didn't believe it at first either - but most of it makes sense. Go Steelers. Palmer is still Palmer :dancing:

It was almost like he went in there like: "what the hell have I got to lose anyway?"

His poise was different to how we've seen him play before. Far more relaxed. Maybe watching Vick and thinking "I can do so much better than that" played a part in it.

Did today's relief appearance by a backup Steeler QB remind you of anyone, say around 2004? Only then we didn't have a HOF QB sitting/standing on the sideline so the fates were strung differently.

I loved the emotion from Landry after the long TD to Bryant. I hadn't seen that before.

Well, he's definite earned consideration for being our back-up. Thing is we've had nothing to really evaluate him up until today. Preseason is just that, preseason. He's always had that incredible release, which is great if the D is running a solid run D like the cards mistakenly did today but it can be an interception nightmare if you're not Brady accurate. I wouldn't crown him just yet but he's earned a spot, yes? Could be trouble up against a solid pass D and I think we need to keep that in mind.
    IMHO

Great job today getting the W with Ben out. I'm ecstatic!

Really "the heir apparent to Ben" quote 5958.... after less than 1/2 of play? COM ON MAN....He did well today and Im happy for him!! I have always said I hope he plays like #12 and proves me wrong. However Im not jumping on this bandwagon just yet.

He was 8 for 12. In my opinion 3 of those misses were on him. That 88 yd TD pass to 10 was a 7 yd pass. Than 10 took it to the house.Padded stats.

I am on record here as saying 3 should have started over 2 3 weeks ago.
He did play well today and deserves the start over 2 next week if 7 cant go. Lets see what he has.

I like how our fans exonerate themselves from crapping on Landry his whole career because he sucked so bad in training camp and pre season every year, but as for the coaches, those same fans hammer the coaching staff because "Why were they too stupid that they didn't see this? What the heck have they been watching?" Uhhh, they've been watching the same thing as you, dude....Landry stinking it up. NOBODY saw this coming today, I don't care what they tell you. He got a chance under the bright lights today and played better than he EVER did in practice or pre season games. Kudos to him.

I'm not sure if I can say I saw it coming, but I wasn't surprised. :)

Landry isn't Ben's "heir apparent", but he's not nearly as bad as many have made him out to be. I've said that for a long time.

It also helps when you look around the huddle and you see 84, 10, 26, 83 and other top notch starters staring back atcha. He's never had that luxury before.

But...having said that Vick couldn't pull it off with those weapons. LJ deserves a lot of credit today and I believe there's hope that he'll be, if not a superstar, a quality NFL backup to Ben and hopefully an effective starting QB one day who knows how to win.

I realize it's too soon to say he is the heir apparent, but I also think it's too soon to write him off and say with such certainty that he isn't.

Cant write him off but need to see what he can do with teams preparing for him. Guarantee you that Arizona didnt spend even a milisecond watching film on him.
