OH my! I didn't think a "supposedly" team leader with his work ethic would be popping off like that after a win.....

Give someone enough rope and.........I guess we can't blame the reporter(s) except for leaving their mics on way too long.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see anything wrong with what he said (at least from the quotes in the link).

It didn't come off as a prima donna fit to me. Just a lament that he's not as involved as he wants to be. And, well, your best players SHOULD want the ball!

I didn't see what he said as slamming Vick either. He stated a fact: Vick's job is to not lose the game and play within himself. So he's being (maybe a little too much) conservative.

Seems like a lot of "much ado about nothing" to me. We've all seen FAR worse from big egos around the league in the past. You could argue he could use more tact, or wrong time and place, but again, it's not that big a deal to me.

I agree with Ray. Your playmakers should want the ball. And in this particular scenario, when he isn't getting the same targets that he usually gets, I think I can sense the frustration. He wants to help the team win, and he feels giving him the ball is the best way to do that. He didn't outright say Vick sucked, just that he's not willing to take the same chances that Ben is. And honestly, that's probably a good thing. Ben knows the abilities of his players far better than Vick does. I'd rather Vick be cautious with the ball if he's not sure.

I agree with Ray & PJ. Brown is one of the top 3 players on this team, he should be getting a larger work load with Ben out not smaller. Haley leaning on Coats, DHB & Wheaton more than Brown with our best player out is insanity.

I agree with Ray, PJ, and Steel. Brown is the super star receiver on our team and he's not getting the ball. He knows he can help us win but doesnt get the chance to try. Maybe this is what they needed to hear. He and Vick watched film together the other day to try and get on the same page. Both guys want to win badly. I like the passion he shows. I dont see it as bashing at all. Just stating what we all can see?

    Yeah, I agree Ray.

Obviously the article doesn't quite get the tone with which he was making those comments - e.g. whether he was sitting and scowling and stamping his feet while he said it - but he's not really rocking the boat too much.

There's that famous clip of Santonio Holmes in the SB43 telling Ben to throw him the ball more on the winning drive. Playmakers want the ball in their hands. Brown may also be annoyed that he's getting open and not getting the ball, but to be fair, we can all see that just from watching the game.

Should he have said it? The main problem with what he said is that it suggested a gap between him and Vick; "he's probably just trying to not lose games" doesn't suggest a QB and WR communicating on a regular basis. But that would only be one interpretation of that statement. It could just as well be a defence of why Vick is not lighting up the league more: "look, he's out there to not lose, and he's a back up QB, so we shouldn't expect fireworks".

In short - nothing to see here, move on.

The obvious isn't getting mentioned here: Vick isn't throwing the ball with precision and he knows it. Add the fact that Brown is usually double covered and it's a recipe for interceptions.
Vick has never been precise and able to "thread the needle" consistently even when he was at his best and he's lost quite a bit since then.

Brown said "Trust me I'll make a play." I don't think it's Brown that Vick doesn't trust. It's Vick that Vick doesn't trust and I agree with him.

I was glad to see the win and was amazed at how well our defense has played.

I have no problem with browns comments and wish we would see more stuff like this from players all over the league. It's far more interesting than the canned responses we hear far too often and this league is in the entertainment business after all.

Exactly Vick doesn't trust Vick to make spot on throws . It is up to Haley to get Brown in a position to catch easier throws . It is also up to Haley to give Vick the Green light when a WR is left 1 on 1 . The Coach must instill confidence in him hey when you see that check into this .

The best and safest way to get Brown the ball is go 3 by 1 . DHB , Bryant, Brown and then Wheaton on the single side . Stack Brown behind and go quick screen 8 or 10 times a game then go deep to DHB and Bryant 8 or 10 times from that same set . Brown will break 1 or 2 or DHB/Bryant will break 1 or 2 .

What I got from this and other articles written regarding this interview is that Brown wants the ball because it will help the Steelers win. Thats exactly the attitude you want from your playmakers although maybe he should have not spoken it out loud to a reporter. But do we want every player on the team to say 'ask the coach, interview over'? Not only is that unrealistic but I like knowing they want to contribute more and care about helping the team win. Its a fine line but I think Antonio was on the right side of that line.

I agree with the writer and bobby, just shut up antonio. "My guy isn't out there"..... BS, #7 isn't out there so Vick is the next guy in line, he's your guy too as long as he's wearing a steelers jersey.

If you have a problem with ball time, talk to the coaches and players.... they control your ball time, not the fans and media. Just shut up and quit being a diva.

Point is, as "great" as he is..... he's 2nd person to touch the ball in play on every play he makes.... he is just one component of this offense.

I'm with everyone who doesn't think what AB said is a big deal. I didn't read any kind of prima donna vibe in his comments.

I love the "diva" tag he is getting. I want our best player to best involved, put in positions to make game breaking plays. Against the Chargers/Ravens you can keep the game close without a guy like AB making a big play. Against the undefeated Cardinals we will get handled if they don't lean on our best players.

I guess one could argue he could have kept his comments to himself but I really didn't see anything wrong with what he said. Vick missed several opportunities to hit a wide open Brown and has said so himself. I don't think there's any doubt that he should be looking Browns way more often than not and right now DHB seems to be his favorite target. I can sense a little bit of frustration on Browns part but tbh everything he's said is the truth. I didn't read it at all as an insult or slam on Vick.

I think the author of that article is trying to sway his readers into thinking there's an issue with what Brown said more so than there actually being any issue at all.

i agree with AB. vick is limiting this offense so badly only looking at one receiver it takes the whole team out of what made them so hard to defend. it's not like vick is a rookie. AB being targeted opens up other things for this offense. if vick at his age still can't make these simple nfl throws, he shouldn't be playing. when you have the best wr in the game, you get the ball to him. this is as much on haley as it is about vick.

Nobody's #2 QB is going to have the same skill set as their #1..... Vick does not have the same ability to feed AB the ball. There were at least 2 "near" interception balls thrown in the SD game. It's only a matter of time before Vick tries to force feed AB's ego and throws a pick-6. Cut the backup a little slack and keep your complaints in house if you really want to complain. AB will get plenty of touches once Ben returns.

The Chargers appeared to double cover Brown for much of the game. Even when Brown wasn't double covered he appeared to have trouble getting consistent separation. It appeared that the Chargers wanted the other WR's to beat them.

By nature of the position, back up QB's generally limit offenses. Back up QB's are back up QB's for reasons. Vick was more like an "emergency" string QB brought in because of injury.

Take a lot at how some starters and backups perform around the league. Simple NFL throws are not simple.

Brown looks bad voicing HIS issue after a win.

AB just said what we all have been thinking, so no big deal, truth is if you have the best receiver in the league then you get the ball to him, they dont trust vick to throw it to him because he is always in double coverage then get him open on slants or out of the slot, but they better start using him more and they better start doing it this Sunday......

I agree that he didn't really seem vindictive in this. I read about this on NFL.COM yesterday and I just took it that he was encouraging Vick to have a little trust in him and let him try and make plays. Vick said he was trying to focus on getting AB worked in there. Maybe AB should tell Haley to draw up some wildcat for him? That would be a way for AB to get more touches without chemistry with Vick and if Vick could catch maybe it would get Vick in space? Nah. Scratch that. LOL.
