Hurtin, I think we're arguing but saying the same thing. Shazier hit him, no doubt. I never said he didn't. But the little guy lowered his shoulder and delivered a blow too. Shazier was hurt by a tiny WR on a crossing route. That's what I said to begin with and it's indisputable.

In all your years around the game you should know it's silly to say that the guy that lands on his back was the guy that got hit. Ever seen a box safety blast a pulling guard to turn the play back inside to his help? Normally that safety ends up on his back, but he clearly delivered the hit. It's a matter of physics again. Force equals mass times velocity.

The pulling guard is 300 lbs. The safety is 200 lbs. They're traveling roughly the same speed so in reality the guard produces more force even though the safety initiated contact and was in this case the hitter.

As for stingers, I don't think anyone can say they're normally this or normally that. I got them from hitting and from being hit. The worst one of my life was from me taking on a fullback on an ISO at the goal line. Believe me, I was not the guy that delivered the hit but I was the one with the stinger.

That last post covers my logical argument now let's talk about your tone. You should really consider easing back on the attitude. Just because the anonymity of the Internet allows you to post snarky, passive aggressive comments without ramifications doesn't mean you have to.

Also I don't think the word obviously means what you think it does.

I also am wondering why? Maybe I am nieve but I can't see the Steelers holding him out just for the higher draft pick?

What am I missing? Steelers.com website shows Shazier as a full participant in yesterdays practice? Also why do they show Fri and Sat? Does the team actually
practice on either of those days? http://www.steelers.com/team/injury-report.html

When Ben retires, it's going to be devastating. Shazier shows what he can do and BANG, on the sidelines again. Tease :lolol: Que Kendrell Bell? Let's hope not.
And the great Cortez is not listed? Getting the #1 back? :roflmao:

I would doubt its about the draft pick, but who really knows? There's been some atypical moves/decisions this year. More than likely, they are just comfortable with Blake and Gay. I would like to see how he does in place of Blake on the outside. Nothing against Blake's play, but Boykin's shown some skills in this league, albeit primarily at the slot, but you traded for him. Why not see?

One concern I would have is his attitude on down the road. And this is purely speculation. When the trade happened there was some comments he made about the Philly coaching staff and the message I got was that he resented them for not giving him the chance at one of the outside corner spots. So then he comes here and he's not even getting a chance to come in as the slot. The team's still paying his salary and it also cost them a draft pick. Taking the player out of it, the trade in and of itself, should warrant some game time evaluation imo. It's still somewhat early, so maybe we'll see that this Monday and beyond.

I thought they were better off trading down and taking Roby, that position needed more talent.

as was stated, they like cockrell on the outside in the nickle. blake isn't a slot guy either. they trust gay in the slot, so boykin is the odd man out right now. gay has knowledge of the defense with two younger guys on the outside, so putting boykin, cockrell and blake on the field with mitchell and allen takes that knowledge off the field.

I agree, but you have to have some concerns he keeps getting these nagging injuries and missing games.

yes, I wouldn't argue with Cockrell on the outside either. He has stepped in nicely. My main point was that the team made the trade and that alone should warrant some snaps. I'm wondering why they don't try Boykin on the outside instead of Blake on the base defense.

MT loves blake. he also knows the defense better. cockrells spot would be the one to try but as you said he's been playing well there. why take a guy out just to put another in? what will really be interseting is when allen comes back.

This is becoming a trend with Shazier...

Timmons has probably reached his peak and is now on the downward slope of his career, we are going to need a reliable guy for when Timmons isn't around. We can't pay Shazier AND Timmons AND a really good back up for when Shazier is hurt.

Maybe unrelated, but I think back to when Troy got hurt in the 2009 opener after our Superbowl win. He really was never quite the same, he was in and out of the lineup until he retired.

Fans were getting on Shazier for being injury prone on Twitter, he snapped back at them.

Very frustrating with Shazier. You can't help but think of Kendrell Bell who came into the league like gangbusters playing with an aggression rarely seen. Shazier's aggressive play reminds me of Bell. I just hope he's able to overcome his injury issues. If not, we may be looking at Bell 2.0.

Agree major concern here. With playing in only 10 out of 21 games at this time he is probably 75 - 80 per cent more like Bell (always hurt) then Lambert (never hurt), probably not a fare comparison with hall of famer, but definetly have to have concerns with him staying healthy. Also he seems like a slow healer, similar how Franco Harris was with injuries. Hope were wrong with this but it merits big concerns.

And you don't even have to compare him to Lambert. Just look at the guy next to him at ILB, Lawrence Timmons. He's an aggressive player who rarely ever misses anytime with injury. Some guys are just more injury prone than others and it looks like Shazier may be one of those guys. Man, our young linebackers are frustrating!!!

i hope one of the other 3 step up their games. remember they are all still young and just getting more field time. it took timmons 3-4 years before he became a real force. spence has only been playing 2 years as is williams. garvin really about the same. they will become even more important if shazier continues this trend. to be honest, i think fort should be on the roster over garvin and maybe......
