He played better than a few good plays and is that all you are looking for? To dominate every game?

It wasn't quite that bad, but he was somewhat ineffective for much of the night. After watching every one of his snaps on the All 22, I can say that there were a couple plays where he was impactful on the line, but for the most part, your assessment isn't all that far off. The Ravens were running some quick screens earlier on, and that is often going to make an outside linebacker appear ineffective during the broadcast, but we're talking a handful of plays, so don't take that as me making an excuse...it's just worth mentioning.

I grabbed a couple quick gifs for fun. Here's a play where he almost gets home.

I believe this is one of the plays you were talking about, Jack.

No. He dropped into coverage 3 times by my count, (4, but one of those was a play where Flacco dropped the snap). I didn't count every OLB's coverage snaps, but at first glance it was equal or less than other OLB's. His first move is sometimes good, sometimes not.

Thing is, Hurst has been stinking up the joint this season. Then of course he plays like a stud Thursday night. :@

I'm just glad Bud and Shazier are showing up. Concerned about Shazier's inability to stay on the field, though.

I guess two out of three ain't bad.

I dont think its possible to get 40 sacks a game, 20 in a half and 10 in a quarter, Jack :lolol:

Unfortunately what we've seen from Jones thus far is a pretty fair indicator of what we will see for his career. As someone who has lived in GA for 20 years and probably saw all of Jones' games he was way over drafted. Most of his 'production" in college was right place at the right time stuff, coverage sacks etc. Just a really poor scouting job by the Steelers IMO.

Not good (for a no. 17 overall draft pick) and not bad (if he were a 3rd or 4th rounder).

Lol yea meaning he is average. If he can stick to assignments and just play average while bud, tuitt, shaz all shine we will be ok. Probably isn't much upside but obviously it is what it is and we own that.
